Xinghua Temple

Xinghua temple is a very famous ancient temple in Northern Jiangsu, located in the eastern foot of Yunlong in Xuzhou City. The temple was built by the great stone Buddha of the Northern Wei Dynasty and has a history of nearly a thousand years. During the reign of Emperor Kangxi of Qing Dynasty, old monk Miyun, the abbot of Tiantong temple in Ningbo, Zhejiang Province, passed by Yunlong mountain. Seeing the beautiful mountain, he appointed fasun Gu'an to stay here to promote Buddhism and became the first abbot of Xinghua temple. After several wars and renovations, Xinghua temple has now formed a grand hall, Grand Buddha Hall, heavenly king hall, Sansheng hall, sutra library, ancestral hall, FA hall, Abbot's room and guest hall The six entrance courtyard is made up of three parts: the hall of fasting, the storehouse and the monk's house.

In 1390, during the Hongwu Period of Ming Dynasty, yuandashi Buddha was first built with a long history of incense, which became a big Buddhist jungle in Northern Jiangsu. The great stone Buddha of Amitabha, which is worshipped in Xinghua temple, was first carved in the Northern Wei Zhengping period (450 years), which has a history of more than 1500 years. The stone Buddha is chiseled according to the mountain and stone. It is about 36 feet (11.52 meters) high. It was originally an open-air Buddha head. During the reign of Emperor Kangxi of the Qing Dynasty, it continued to carve two arms and chest. The hall covering the big stone Buddha was built in the Ming Dynasty along the cliff. There are only three layers of bricks under the eaves of the back wall of the hall, so it is called the three brick hall covering three Zhang Buddha, which has become a wonder of Zen. There are still bell and Drum Tower, ancestral hall, sutra collection tower and a three ton iron bell in Xinghua temple.

In June 1993, when Xinghua temple built the main hall, seven groups of 195 Buddhist cliff statues of Tang and Song dynasties were excavated, and a protection room was built for visitors to see. Mr. Zhao Puchu, President of China Buddhist Association, inscribed "cliff statues of Tang and Song Dynasties". In 1995, Jiangsu Provincial People's government listed it as a cultural relic protection unit at the provincial level. On the top floor of the protection room for cliff carvings in the Tang and Song Dynasties is the newly-built Mahavira hall with flying eaves and brackets, flying angles and painted gold ornaments. In the hall, Wang III Buddha is worshipped. The left pharmacist, the right Buddha and the Buddha Sakyamuni are in the middle, solemn, compassionate and peaceful. The island Guanyin is shaped on its back and is surrounded by eighteen Arhats with various shapes and vivid images. Xinghua temple covers an area of 7000 square meters and a building area of 1982 square meters.
