Seeing that the mountain stone looks like a Buddha, they engraved a Buddha statue, which is 57 meters above the ground. It's named Tongzi temple. In front of the temple, there is a stone pagoda with a height of more than 4 meters and a hexagonal plane. The tower has a hollow body and a built-in light room.
Introduction to scenic spots
Tongzi temple was built in the seventh year of Tianbao in the Northern Qi Dynasty. It was destroyed in the first year of jintianfu and rebuilt in the first year of Jiajing in the Ming Dynasty. It's said that when two boys were in the mountain for a retreat, they saw the extraordinary momentum of the rocks, so they carved a 57 meter high statue of Buddha here, and the name of the temple came from it. The pagoda was built in the Northern Qi Dynasty, with harmonious proportion and beautiful shape. It is the oldest lighting stone pagoda known so far in China and a key cultural relic at the provincial level. On the Northeast cliff of Tongzi temple, there is the site of Shimen temple, in which there is a grotto with beautiful lotus patterns carved on the top. Gaoyang Zengdeng temple, the cultural emperor of the Northern Qi Dynasty, overlooks the city view of Bingzhou (today's Taiyuan). The temple was destroyed in 1117 and rebuilt in 1522. The architecture and stone Buddha statues in the temple have long disappeared. In front of the temple, there is a lamp burning stone tower, which is 4.12 meters high. It is hexagonal in plane. The base of the lower part is about half of the full height. The tower has a hollow body, a built-in lamp room, three doors and smoke exhaust at the top. The proportion of tower body is moderate and the shape is beautiful. Although it has experienced more than 1400 years of wind and rain, it is still the oldest stone pagoda known in China.
