Historical evolution
In 1981, the construction of Zhengzhou zoo was included in the plan and the site selection was completed. At that time, there were three parks in Zhengzhou: Zijingshan Park, bishagang Park and Zhengzhou people's Park. The tickets were only 5 cents, and there was no charge for entering before 8 am. The main flowers were introduced in different seasons, but the common point was that a group of small animals, or swans, or mandarin ducks, would be kept in a certain corner It's like a small zoo, but it's not systematic.
From August to September 1984, Zhengzhou Urban Construction Bureau organized a group of designers to visit Xi'an, Beijing, Shijiazhuang and other places with the people from the preparation office of the zoo. After that, several famous engineers in Zhengzhou City specially designed several plans for the zoo; finally, a plan was determined according to the economic and land conditions of Zhengzhou city. In winter, the zoo officially opened. As the park is located in the plain, there are no natural mountains, so many artificial mountains have been built and six artificial lakes have been opened up, which are connected by bridges and culverts. Nanhu Lake is a paradise for waterfowls, with mandarin ducks playing in pairs and swans swimming on the lake. The panda hall, hippo hall, orangutan hall and elephant room designed and built in the 1980s are novel and unique. They are both architecture and scenery. Many of them have indoor and outdoor exhibition halls, which can be enjoyed by tourists all year round.
At the end of 1984, the Zoo began to take shape. Subsequently, all the animals and breeders in the three parks of Zhengzhou City were gathered here. The zoo finally has more than 50 animals.
In October 1985, the park was completed and opened, covering an area of 380 mu (another 50 mu has been completed with land certificate, reaching 430 Mu after recovery). At the beginning of 1985, the zoo bought Nico, a gorilla cub bred by Beijing Zoo for 100000 yuan. Later, he rented a giant panda from Sichuan. On October 1, Zhengzhou zoo officially opened.
In 1992, the park stalls were unified planning.
In October 2007, panda Dudu came to the park.
In April 2010, the old staff of Zhengzhou zoo used lions, tigers, EMUs, big eared sheep and other animals to occupy land and asked Henan Provincial Sports Bureau for the land borrowed from the zoo in 1984, which led to physical conflicts between the two units.
During the national day of 2010, Zhengzhou zoo "small animal village" opened to welcome visitors.

Animal star
In June 1978, King Juan Carlos of Spain visited China for the first time. In September of that year, China gave a pair of national treasure giant pandas shaoshao and Qiangqiang to Spain as a gift. In return, a pair of gorillas, nior and Renel, came to China's Beijing Zoo. Soon after, panda diplomacy brought Japanese gorilla akome to Beijing Zoo. Nior and ACOM are united. At the end of 1982, two "free love" gorillas, with the crystallization of love, he was called "Nico". As soon as he was born, Niko set a world record and numerous national records: he was the only gorilla born in a zoo in the world at that time; he was the first gorilla born in China, the only gorilla with Chinese nationality, and he was a successful gorilla raised artificially. This makes "Niko" attract the attention of the World Conservation Union (IUCN) without dispute, and it is listed as "1077" by IUCN gorilla international pedigree registration center. At that time, Beijing zoo had limited housing, so Beijing Zoo decided to sell Niko. According to the news, zoos in Wuhan, Nanjing, Nanchang and other cities have handed olive branches to Beijing. Zhengzhou zoo, which was under construction at that time, had a plan and was determined to win. In front of the sky high price of 100000 yuan, several competitors hesitated. In September 1985, Niko finally "blossomed in Zhengzhou". On October 1, 1985, Zhengzhou zoo officially opened. Tens of thousands of people flocked into the park to see Niko, "it was the most lively day of Zhengzhou zoo.". In the 1990s, when I learned that there was a healthy baby female gorilla in Taiwan of the same age as Niko, Zhengzhou zoo was so happy that it immediately wrote to Taipei Zoo to propose for Niko. However, I contacted her several times, but it fell to the ground. Later, when the person in charge of Taipei Zoo visited Zhengzhou zoo, he explained: "Baobao" is not a female, but a male.
