Shangluo Museum
The Shangluo museum is located in Shangzhou City, Shaanxi province. It is a site museum built in 1996. It consists of two sites: the great cloud temple and Town God's Temple, covering an area of 13 thousand square meters. More than 120 fine cultural relics on display are selected from more than 38000 cultural relics unearthed from archaeological exploration and excavation in the region in the past five years: Jade Yazhang, a ritual vessel of the Xia Dynasty, tiger cudgel cap, a bronze ware of the Western Zhou Dynasty with full inscriptions, and pottery pots of the spring and Autumn period.
Collection
Shangluo museum displays stone, bone, pottery, lacquer, jade, bronze and other artifacts from the Neolithic Age to the Han Dynasty, some of which fill the archaeological gap in Shaanxi Province. In particular, the large round dinosaur egg fossils about 100 million to 70 million years ago on display are rare in the world.
Shangluo used to be a triangle where the Three Kingdoms of Qin, Jin and Chu met. There are many cultural sites in Shangluo, including more than 100 temples, pagodas and ancient caves. Chuangwangzhai site, Shangyang fiefdom and Sihao ancient tomb are well-known.

There is a 244 square meter historical exhibition hall in the museum, which focuses on the major archaeological achievements of Shangluo in recent years. The achievements mainly include the archaeological achievements of the Paleolithic cave site in Luonan County, which was one of the top ten archaeological discoveries in China in 1997; the archaeological achievements of the Xia Shang site in donglongshan, Shangzhou, which was included in the national "Xia Shang Zhou dating project"; the archaeological achievements of Danfeng Shangyang, as well as the archaeological achievements of Qin culture, Chu culture and Jin culture.
The above archaeological results reflect that Shangluo not only has a relatively complete and continuous historical chain from the Paleolithic and Neolithic Age to the Xia, Shang, Zhou, Qin and Han Dynasties, but also shows the richness and massiness of diverse cultures after the confluence of Shangluo. The exhibition room is divided into four units:
The first unit is Shangluo Paleolithic. Besides various kinds of stone tools, there are also fossil specimens such as elephant and rhinoceros;
The second unit, Chen Zhan's Neolithic jade, stone, bone, pottery, bronze and other artifacts from Xia, Shang and Zhou dynasties, focuses on the history and civilization of Shangluo in Xia and Shang Dynasties;
The third unit mainly displays a group of exquisite pottery body lacquerware, bronze ritual ware and chariot and horse ware unearthed from the first coffin and the second coffin of Jin State in the late spring and Autumn period.
Unit 4 the Warring States city wall, "Shang" tile, deer and tortoise tile found in the excavation of Shangyang, Danfeng ancient city, and the whole set of pottery and bronze weapons unearthed from the Chu tomb and Chu tomb in the eastern part of Shangyi city.
In March 2007, the planning and design of "Shangluo stone Buddha exhibition hall" construction project has been completed, and now the exhibition is open to the public. The exhibition hall mainly displays stone sculptures of song, yuan, Ming and Qing Dynasties in Shangluo, which is part of the planning and exhibition content of Shangluo Museum.
About Shangluo
Shangluo has a long history and profound cultural accumulation. In Xia, Shang and Zhou dynasties, it was the ancient Shang state;
During the spring and Autumn period and the Warring States period, it was the ancient Shangyu road and the fortress of Shangyi, and the Languan and Wuguan were important passes for the transportation between the north and the south of the country.
Shang county was set up in Qin Dynasty and Shangluo County in Western Jin Dynasty.
Shangzhou was established in the first year of xuanzheng in the Northern Zhou Dynasty (578 AD).
In ancient times, there were cultural relics such as Cangjie's word making, Shangyang's fiefdom, Sihao's seclusion, and Li Zicheng's army's garrison for horse feeding; in modern times, there were revolutionary historical traces of the nine sons' Revolutionary Army's moving to Shangluo and successively establishing two revolutionary bases of Henan, Hubei, Shaanxi and Hubei, Henan and Shaanxi.
Nowadays, there are many writers represented by Jia Pingwa, and they are known as "the hometown of drama" and "the hometown of painting".
The Shangluo museum is the first comprehensive museum built in Shangluo. It includes two parts of history and folklore. The museum is based on Dayun temple and Town God's Temple, covering an area of 13 thousand square meters. More than 100 pieces of cultural relics on display in the new archaeological discovery of Shangluo reflect the achievements of archaeological discoveries in Shangluo area in recent years. Among them, there are human tooth fossils of a million years ago, jade Yazhang of Xia Dynasty, bronze tiger cap of Western Zhou Dynasty full of inscriptions, exquisite lacquerware of spring and Autumn period, Shang tile of Warring States period, pottery pot of Qin Dynasty, and so on Large dinosaur fossils from 100 million to 70 million years ago.
