Chaoyang Museum
Chaoyang museum is located in Xinhua Road, Chaoyang City, Liaoning Province. It is a comprehensive free museum under the jurisdiction of Chaoyang Culture Bureau. It was founded in 1972. The museum mainly displays Hongshan culture, Sanyan culture, Tang culture and Liao culture as the theme of cultural relics, including bronze, ceramics, calligraphy and painting, paleontology and other cultural relics.
Development history
Established in March 1972, the museum is under the Cultural Bureau of Chaoyang District. In October 1984, with the removal of Chaoyang District government office and the establishment of Chaoyang City, the name of Chaoyang City was changed and it was subordinate to the Cultural Bureau of Chaoyang City.
Chaoyang museum is located in South Tower Square, Xinhua Road, Chaoyang City. It started construction in 2008 and opened to the public free of charge on October 1, 2011, with a total construction area of 10000 square meters.
After the establishment of the museum in 1972, a temporary exhibition of unearthed cultural relics in Chaoyang area was held in June. This is the first exhibition of unearthed cultural relics reflecting the history of Chaoyang. When the museum was first built, its office address was in the southwest trade union courtyard of Xinhua Square. In 1973, it moved to Youshun temple, a provincial cultural relics protection unit. In 1973 and 1979, National Day held two exhibitions of unearthed cultural relics. From February to March 1984, the exhibition of Qidan female corpses was jointly held with the cultural relics workstation of Ulanqab League in Inner Mongolia. On the national day of 1984, "Chaoyang local history exhibition" was officially opened to the public. The exhibition area is 355 square meters and the exhibition line is 73.4 meters long. 420 cultural relics from primitive society to the spring and Autumn Period unearthed in Chaoyang are on display. On the national day of 1989, a new "stone carving art exhibition" was set up to display 20 pieces of epitaphs of the 16 states, Northern Wei, Sui, Tang and Liao dynasties unearthed in Chaoyang. At the same time, "Chaoyang local history display" was changed to "historical relics display", and the lower limit was extended to the Yuan Dynasty. In 1991, a "Buddhist art exhibition" was added to display more than 30 Buddhist statues and 370 square meters of murals (copies) of Huining temple in Beipiao Xiafu.

Chaoyang Museum, with a total construction area of 10000 square meters, is the largest museum in western Liaoning. It is the first comprehensive large-scale museum with the theme of Hongshan culture, Sanyan culture, Datang culture and Liao culture in history. There are 9 units in the museum exhibition hall, including ancient footprints, dawn of civilization, ancient city Fangguo, county in western Liaoning, Xianbei Fengyun, North Xinjiang hub, capital town, flourishing in Xingzhong, Fengming Chaoyang, etc. Chaoyang Museum has a collection of nearly 10000 pieces of cultural relics, mainly including bronze ritual vessels of Shang and Zhou dynasties, gold and copper ornaments of horses in the periods of pre Yan, post Yan and Northern Yan, the "three colors of Tang Dynasty" in the Tang Dynasty, a large number of painted pottery figurines, Qidan cultural relics of Liao Dynasty, porcelain of Jin, yuan, Ming and Qing Dynasties, precious calligraphy and painting, etc. The cultural relics in the museum fully show the social development history of Chaoyang from 150000 years ago to the Ming and Qing Dynasties, and fully reveal the important position and role of Chaoyang in the 5000 year history of Chinese civilization.
Collection
Now there are 3 exhibition rooms. The Tianwang hall and Jingge hall are "historical relics display", the east side hall is "stone carving art display", and the West Hall is "Buddhist art display".
There are 6300 pieces of cultural relics in the collection, including bronzes, ceramics, coins, sculptures, paintings and calligraphy, paleontology and miscellaneous roofs, and more than 4000 pieces of materials. Most of them were unearthed in Chaoyang, and only a small number of Ming and Qing porcelains were collected by the people.
