Red star shining "meritorious fighter"
At hangbo, there are a number of meritorious aircraft on display in the war to resist US aggression and aid Korea. For example, the MiG-15 aircraft with one solid, three virtual and four red stars is the aircraft of Li Han, the combat hero who first wounded and shot down enemy aircraft in the history of the air war to resist US aggression and aid Korea. On December 12, 1951, commander Liu Yalou called the Party committee of the air force from the front line: "in order to encourage the pilots and mechanics who shot down the enemy plane, I think we can follow the Soviet Union's method and paint a red five-star on the plane that shot down the enemy plane for each one.". After the Party committee of the air force agreed, it soon sent out the instruction telegram to the troops, and made it clear that the shot down and the injury were represented by solid and hollow red stars respectively. Since then, the "meritorious" plane has a shining red star.
