Lingyan temple is located at the top of Lingyan mountain. Its full name is Lingyan Guanyin temple. The Buddha statues in the temple are mainly Guanyin. Walking all the way up the mountain, the trees are luxuriant. When we come here in autumn, we can see the red and yellow crisscross and colorful scenery. The scenery in front of the temple is very beautiful. There is a ginkgo tree beside the thousand handed Guanyin temple. Its thick and hard branches stretch out like hands, so it is called "thousand handed ginkgo". Ginkgo leaves fall all over the place, making the ancient temple more quiet.
The main building in the temple is the thousand Buddha Hall, which is also the best preserved and large-scale ancient building in the temple. It is named for the numerous Buddha statues on the walls of the temple. Thousand Buddha Hall was built in Tang Dynasty, and now it is a wood structure building rebuilt in Ming Dynasty. The most fascinating part of the hall is the 40 colored clay sculptures of the Song Dynasty, which are nearly a thousand years old and still in good condition. It shows the different images and personalities of 40 eminent monks. They are respectable and moving, all vivid and all alike. Liang Qichao once had the inscription of "the first sculpture in China".
