It is considered to be the most difficult section on the Qinghai Tibet line, and it is easy to have plateau reaction. It is generally believed that if the Wudaoliang pass can be safely passed, the Tanggula pass will not be a big problem.

The average temperature in January is - 16.2 ℃, the average temperature in July is 6.0 ℃, and the annual average temperature is - 5.1 ℃, which is the lowest in China. The annual precipitation is 301.4 mm.
