Du Fu Memorial Hall
Dufu memorial hall is located in Shaoling tableland in the east of Weiqu Town, Chang'an District, Xi'an City, about 12 kilometers north of Xi'an city. It was built on the former site of Duke temple in Ming Dynasty. Du Fu, the "sage of poetry" of a generation, once lived here and wrote poems that were passed down through the ages.
Du Fu, a poet
Du Fu (712-770), Zi Mei, was born in duling, Jingzhao. In 712, Emperor Xuanzong of Tang Dynasty was born in Gongxian County, Henan Province. He began to recite poetry at the age of 7, entered the poetry world at the age of 15, and began to roam since the age of 20, making friends with heroes all over the world. In the fifth year of Tianbao (746), 35 year old Du Fu came to Chang'an with great ambition. The next year, he took part in the system, but unfortunately failed. Since then, he has repeatedly offered poems to princes and Fu to Xuanzong in order to serve as an official, but they have not succeeded and their lives have been in trouble. Later, he moved to the Bank of Shaoling near duling, so he called himself "Shaoling Yelao" and "duling Yeke". Chang'an's hard experience made his poems face the cold reality, and his style turned to depression. After that, he wrote a series of poems concerning the country and the people, such as soldiers and chariots, beauties and people, and five hundred words from Beijing to Fengxian County. In the "an Shi rebellion", Du Fu witnessed the destruction of the mountains and rivers and the social unrest, and wrote such epic works as Chunwang, aijiangtou, Beizheng, Sanli and Sanbie. In the second year of Qianyuan (759), he left Guanzhong and wandered to the southwest. Eleven years later, he died in a foreign land and never returned to Chang'an.
Memorial Hall
Seven hundred years later, in 1526, Zhang Zhidao, a native of Chang'an, felt that the poet Du Fu had no ancestral hall to offer sacrifices and was left out in the cold. He advocated local people to build a Du Gong ancestral hall on the Bank of Shaoling. According to historical records, Duke temple was repaired three times in 1577, 1666 and 1702, and was destroyed by fire in the last year of Qianlong. In the ninth year of Jiaqing (1804), at the initiative of some scholars, the Duke temple was rebuilt at today's address. In more than 100 years since then, the temple of Duke has been repaired many times, including two stone records, one in 1868, the seventh year of Tongzhi in the Qing Dynasty, and the other in 1886, the twelfth year of Guangxu.
The memorial was completed
After the founding of the people's Republic of China, the government of Chang'an District has repeatedly allocated funds to renovate the Du Gong ancestral hall. In 1960, the Du Fu memorial hall was set up and later renamed the Du Gong ancestral hall management office, which specializes in management. In 1978, the Duke temple was opened to the public and became a key cultural relic protection unit at the provincial level. In 2009, the name of Du Fu memorial hall was restored.
Du Fu memorial hall is located on the back of Shaoling tableland, facing fan chuanshui, facing Chang'an City in the north and Zhongnan Mountain in the south. The terrain is high and open, which can be viewed from afar. The courtyard has luxuriant flowers and trees, elegant environment, well arranged halls and pavilions, and vigorous ancient trees.
