historical origin
Before the Yuan Dynasty, the imperial city was not called the Imperial City, but was called Tiaoxi. It was under the jurisdiction of Fanhe county (now Yongchang County) of Wuwei County. In the Yuan Dynasty, it was once a fiefdom of King Yongchang, only tiemuer. Only Timur was the grandson of wokuotai and the son of kuodan. Kuo Duan was in Liangzhou at that time, and his third son guarded Yongchang. In November 1272, the ninth year of the reign of emperor Shizu of the Yuan Dynasty, "all the kings would only build a new city and give it the name of Yongchang house" (Shizu IV, history of the Yuan Dynasty). According to Qianlong Yongchang County annals Volume II: Imperial City, because of its illegal, now from the Yellow word. To the south of the city is Yishe Summer Palace, whose site is still recognizable. From this, we can see that the imperial city was originally the horse city and summer palace built by Timur, the only choice for the king of Yongchang.
Introduction to the Imperial City
The imperial city is divided into two cities, the South and the north. The distance between the two cities is 200 meters. The city walls sit in the north and the south. They are made of rammed earth. The southern city wall is relatively complete, rectangular, 320 meters long from east to west, 300 meters wide from north to south, covering an area of 96000 square meters. The gate is in the middle of Nanyuan. According to the investigation of archaeological experts, Nancheng is a military defense building with complex structure. There are five horse roads on the East, North and west sides of the city wall, with an interval of 40 meters; there are four horse roads on the south wall, and square corner piers on the four corners of the city. There are two moats around the city, and five tall piers and abutments are built on each side between the two rivers, forming the strict military defense system of the ancient city. In the north of the city, there is an architectural site in the shape of "I", which is 1 meter above the ground and 68 meters long from north to south.
The north city wall is square, 395 meters long on each side, covering an area of 235 thousand square meters. A gate was opened in the middle of the south wall, and a wall was built in the northeast of the city, 260 meters long from north to South and 11.5 meters wide from east to west. There are no architectural remains in the city. This city is the Muma city of only Timur. At present, most of the city walls have collapsed in the shape of earth ridges. After 700 years, they have been reduced to pastures.
According to the records in the Qing Dynasty's Jiaqing revision of Yitong Zhi, the ancient city built by Yongchang king of the Yuan Dynasty in the present imperial city is also called the ancient city of Erduo, which means "qianer" and "Erduo" in Mongolian. "Yongchang County annals" records: at the end of the Yuan Dynasty, the king of Yongchang and his concubines went to the imperial city to spend the summer. There was a war in Yongchang City. After the princess died, she could not be buried because the road was blocked. It was buried in the imperial District, where the king of Yongchang was also buried after his death. In 1984, the cultural relics investigation team of Zhangye District came here to investigate and found the tomb in the Niangniang Tomb of Dongding village, Yangxiang Township, Huangcheng district.
The Imperial City Beach is rich in water and grass, and is suitable for livestock and grazing. It has been a must for military strategists since ancient times. King Yongchang has a great strategic vision to build a horse city and a summer palace here. Today, the ruins are full of withered grass and desolate, which has lost the majesty and magnificence of the Imperial Summer Palace.
Although Jinchang is not far from here, the memory of Huangcheng reservoir still remains more than ten years ago. While driving, I saw many new changes along the way. The roads in Yongchang have all been paved with smooth asphalt, but the roads into the imperial city are still gravel roads, but it's much easier than before. Because the climate here is cold and cool. Although it's only September, it's less and less green. There is not much water flowing through the ditch. Under the background of shrubs on both sides of the ditch, through the large and small rivers, the round stones in the ditch still have some charm. There are not many beautiful mountains here. They belong to the typical barren forest in Northwest China. Only on the mountain near the reservoir, from a distance, clumps of yellow and red unknown shrubs in the depression are very eye-catching and gorgeous in the backlight. The biggest change is the small hydropower projects on the road. Due to the advantages of topography and water resources, this is an excellent area for the development of small hydropower. In recent years, Yongchang has been vigorously attracting investment and developed here by Fujian businessmen. Judging from the scale of the road, it has achieved fruitful results.
Reservoir landscape
Huangcheng reservoir when there are more and more trees in the river and the view is wider and wider, a towering dam appears in front of us. Several words inlaid with white stones tell us that Huangcheng reservoir is here! On the dam, Gaoxia Pinghu is quietly waiting for our review. It's probably autumn. There are very few tourists here. Only some engineers are working. Due to the drought and less rain this year, the reservoir does not store much water. Since I haven't been here for more than ten years, it seems that the change here is not very great. After all, I am in a remote mountainous area, and there is no place to see the natural scenery except the grassland. Therefore, the government's investment in this area is not very large. However, no matter what, this is our hometown after all, and we can't give up our affection for the soil and water.
Zhihe river flows through a dangerous shoal of strange rocks. The narrowest part of this pile of strange rocks is less than 3 meters. A cement bridge is built here, which is called "double stone bridge" locally. The bridge is surrounded by jagged rocks with wild flowers and mosses growing on its surface. In the middle of the narrow river, there was a huge stone the size of a house. In the 1-2 meter wide gap between the huge stones, the clear water was churning and roaring out of the road. The torrent struck the stone wall and made a huge sound, which could be heard from a distance. Standing on the abrupt boulder on the bank, people leaned forward and bowed down, all trembling.
