Yushu Museum
Located in the golden corn belt of the world, Yushu city of Jilin Province is an important commodity grain base in China. It is known as "the first granary in the world" and has been rated as "the number one grain producing county in China" for many years. The establishment of Yushu museum is based on the strategic consideration of the local government to build the brand of "Jilin Agricultural Museum" around the theme culture of Jilin agriculture, making it a museum covering the agricultural culture of the whole province and highlighting the local agricultural characteristics, and playing a positive demonstration role in the construction of county (City) characteristic Museum.
Development history
In 1990, the museum was changed from county to city to Yushu Museum. It is subordinate to Yushu Culture Bureau.
The museum was formerly known as the county agricultural exhibition hall established in March 1973. At the beginning of 1975, it was merged with the county cultural center and library. On May 1, 1979, the county Exhibition Center was restored and put under the management of the cultural relics system. In 1982, it was renamed Yushu County Museum.
Built in 1973, the Museum covers a total area of 1200 square meters and a building area of 1060 square meters, including 840 square meters of exhibition room, 100 square meters of cultural relics storeroom and 120 square meters of office area.
Basic Display
The basic exhibition and special exhibition are for visitors. Since its establishment, the museum has held more than 60 exhibitions, including the exhibition of cultural relics unearthed from elm, the exhibition of achievements in socialist construction, the exhibition of the 70th anniversary of the Communist Party of China, the exhibition of Lei Feng's deeds, the exhibition of promoting agriculture by science and technology for rural women, and the exhibition of photography, calligraphy and painting.
Collection
The museum has a collection of more than 4700 cultural relics. Among them, the historical relics include stone, bone, pottery, jade, bronze, iron, gold and silver, porcelain, ancient coins, etc. Revolutionary cultural relics include articles used by the underground workers of the Communist Party of China during the Anti Japanese War, and road strips and official seals of the liberated areas during the war of liberation. The natural specimens include mammoth, rhinoceros, bison, deer and other paleontological fossils. The main feature of the collection is that there are a lot of paleontological fossils, which are the remains of Pleistocene or Holocene of Cenozoic Quaternary in geological period, and some paleontological fossils coexisting with Yushu people in late Paleolithic period, which have high scientific value. There are also a considerable number of Han Dynasty cultural relics unearthed in this area, as well as Liao and Jin Dynasty cultural relics.
The museum has published "Yushu county cultural relics" and other academic papers.
Opening Hours
It's open six days a week and closed on Monday.
It opens from 8:00 to 16:00 every day.
