Jiran Temple
Jiran temple, the full name of Jiran putizhou, is located in the Zhuoma Baza root in Batang Township, 25 kilometers away from Jiegu Town, where Yushu prefecture is located. Therefore, it is also known as Zhuoma Baza temple, with an altitude of more than 3700 meters. Jiran temple is named after the hereditary inheritance of the abbot of Jiran family. Jiran is a family name, claiming to be one of the four primitive clans in Tubo. It believed in Bon religion in the early days, and converted to Ningma sect of Tibetan Buddhism in the 8th century.
In 1143 A.D., Jiran family gave birth to a son named juewa Jiuding sanggong, who was born in Xihang village. He was born wise, learned and powerful. He once studied Dharma from Bama, and founded Zhigong Kagyu school of Tibetan Buddhism in his twenties. Jiran temple, its main temple, has been handed down from generation to generation, forming a large-scale temple with many sub temples. There are 15 sub temples in Yushu alone, with more than 100000 monks. Later, due to the sectarian struggle with Sakya sect and the intervention of Yuan Dynasty, zhigonggaju was defeated, the temple was burned, and Jiran temple was forced to move to Tibet. In 1179, the Dharma temple built by Muya Gongren, a disciple of pamozhuba in Mozhugongka County, Tibet, was expanded to form zhigongti temple. At the end of the 18th century, dodan renzengosa, a descendant of Jiran, began to restore Jiran temple, but it failed to achieve its former scale and glory.
The temple is now the abbot of RI Bu Qiu Ying duo Jie, a descendant of Ji ran. There are many Scripture halls and relics in the temple. Jiran temple was once the main temple of Zhigong Kaju sect in history, which had a great influence in Tibetan areas.
