Name source
"Laohutai" is a transliteration of Mongolian "nauhart", which means the place where there are many dogs. During the period of Junggar, it was a large grassland. Mongolians once lived here and got its name because they had many shepherds. Today, the Uygur people call Laohutai "kalabag", which means lush forest garden. Once upon a time, the place was sparsely populated and covered with tall shrubs. It was like an orchard.
