Zhenbao Island is located on the Wusuli River, about two kilometers long. It is named Zhenbao Island because it looks like Yuanbao. Located on the left side of the center of the main channel, the island has been Chinese territory since ancient times. It was originally a peninsula extending into the Wusuli River from China. Later, it became an island after a long period of water impact. Nowadays, during the dry season in summer, Zhenbao Island is still connected with China's land along the Wusuli River, restoring the original appearance of the peninsula. Island details
The eastern section of the border between China and Russia is bounded by the Wusuli River and Heilongjiang. As Zhenbao Island and Heixiazi Island are located above the boundary river, both Russia and the Soviet Union claimed the sovereignty of Zhenbao Island and other islands (China believes that the border between China and Russia is on the main waterway of Wusuli River, and the island is obviously to the south of the main waterway, so it belongs to China). In 1929, during the Middle East Road incident, the Nationalist government forced the Soviet Union to take back the railway privileges in Northeast China, which resulted in the Sino Soviet military conflict. After the incident, the Soviet Union occupied Heixiazi Island. After the August storm operation at the end of the Second World War, the Soviet Red Army began to patrol treasure island in 1947. In 1964, during the Sino Soviet border negotiation, the Soviet side prepared to return the treasure island to the Chinese side, but the negotiation was suspended due to the worsening Sino Soviet relations. From 1967 to the beginning of 1969, there were constant patrol conflicts between the two sides in several places on the border, such as qiliqin island and Zhenbao Island on the Wusuli River, from scolding to pushing and shoving, stick fighting and so on. Since 1968, China has been preparing to carry out armed operations on the eastern border between China and the Soviet Union. In 1969, with the approval of the CPC Central Committee and Mao Zedong, Chen Xilian, commander of Shenyang Military Region, deployed to launch a "Zhenbao Island counterattack" in Zhenbao Island in March, setting the tone for the Ninth National Congress of the Communist Party of China in April. On March 2, 1969, when the Soviet Army found that someone from the Chinese side was on the island, it sent a border patrol to drive the other side out. It was ambushed by the Chinese side, killing and injuring dozens of people. On March 15 and 17, there was another armed conflict between the border forces of China and the Soviet Union. The Soviet Army used tanks, armored vehicles, airplanes and then "secret weapons" and "hail" rockets. The PLA used anti tank guns, recoilless guns, 40 rocket launchers and other light weapons, as well as on shore deep fire. Both sides claimed that the other side deliberately provoked and fired first. After that, the Chinese side beat back the attack of the other side, and after the battle, the Chinese side controlled the whole island. The Chinese side suffered fewer casualties than the other side, and this battle is called "the battle of defending Treasure Island" or "the battle of defending Treasure Island". On September 11, 1969, after attending the funeral of Vietnamese leader Ho Chi Minh, President of the Soviet Union Council of ministers kosikin passed by Beijing to meet with Zhou Enlai and others. After that, the situation eased.
In 1990, the ownership of Zhenbao Island was solved. In 1991, Russia recognized that Zhenbao Island belonged to China. In 2004, China and Russia also reached an agreement on Heixiazi Island. According to the "supplementary agreement between the people's Republic of China and the Russian Federation on the eastern section of the Sino Russian border" signed by China and Russia, Russia will return to China all the occupied Yinlong Island, part of the territory of Heixiazi Island, and abakatuzhuzhu on the Erguna river near Manzhouli, Inner Mongolia. In April 2005, the Russian government ratified the supplementary agreement. A month earlier, the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress of China also adopted a decision on the ratification of the supplementary agreement between the people's Republic of China and the Russian Federation on the eastern section of the Sino Russian border. So far, not only has the dispute over the territory of Heixiazi Island settled, but the 4300 kilometer long border between China and Russia has also been confirmed. In October 2008, the Chinese and Russian governments held a ceremony on Heixiazi Island to unveil the boundary pillars of the eastern section of the Sino Russian border. About 171 square kilometers of land on the west side of Heixiazi Island and its waters were officially assigned to China.
Historical evolution
In 1860, the Treaty of Beijing between China and Russia was signed by the Qing Dynasty and tsarist Russia. As treasure island is located on the boundary river, its ownership has not been determined throughout the 20th century. China and Russia (the Soviet Union) claim the sovereignty of the island.
The Sino Soviet border conflict in 1969 was one of a series of armed military confrontations between China and the Soviet Union at the height of the collapse of Sino Soviet relations in the 1960s. It almost led to a large-scale war between the Soviet Union and China, and the Soviet Union even claimed to attack China's major cities with nuclear weapons, which was not implemented because of the cold war between the United States and the Soviet Union.
After the failure of the Sino Soviet border negotiations in 1964, especially the Soviet Union's invasion of Czechoslovakia in 1968 (the Prague Spring incident) and the "theory of limited sovereignty", China believes that this is an extremely serious challenge to a country's sovereignty. Today is Czechoslovakia, and tomorrow may be China. After the breakup between China and the Soviet Union, there were constant bloody conflicts between the two patrols on the island from 1967 to the beginning of 1969.
On April 27, 2005, the National People's Congress approved the supplementary agreement on the eastern section of the Sino Russian border. On May 20, 2005, the Russian State Duma voted to approve the agreement. According to the agreement, treasure island is Chinese territory. Zhenbao Island covers an area of only 0.74 square kilometers. However, the event of Zhenbao Island in the late 1960s attracted the world's attention. On the other side of the ocean, when it comes to Northeast China, treasure island will certainly be mentioned. In the fierce battle in the last century, the brave soldiers defended the sovereignty of the country with blood and life, and composed a magnificent song of triumph.
The existing cement fortifications and cat's ear holes on Zhenbao Island are the positions where the heroes fought in those years. The first generation barracks in Zhenbao Island have a couplet: living in Zhenbao Island with five continents in mind, which reminds people of the broad mind and communist style of the soldiers. Now it has become the home of the soldiers guarding the island, the base of patriotism education, and a famous tourist attraction in Jixi City. Chen Yunhe, a Chinese writer and poet, visited the island with his wife on May 30, 2008. He wrote a prose work "Hutou town · Wusuli River · Zhenbao Island", which was published in "walking with prose".
Climatic characteristics
The climate of Zhenbao Island is very cold in winter. The coldest air temperature is as low as - 38 ℃ and the average temperature is about - 20 ℃. The average temperature in summer is about 22 degrees. There is a great difference in temperature between cold and summer. The ice age is very long, up to five months.
Related Wars
The Sino Soviet battle of Zhenbao Island was a battle in which the Chinese frontier forces repulsed the invasion of the Soviet Army on Zhenbao Island. In March 1969, the Soviet army carried out several armed incursions into Zhenbao Island on the western side of the center line of the main waterway of the Wusuli River in Heilongjiang Province, and shelled deep areas on the Chinese shore. Chinese border forces were forced to fight back in self-defense. In this incident, the Soviet government claimed that treasure island belonged to the Soviet Union, falsely accused the Chinese border defense forces of invading the Soviet Union, and announced the Soviet government's "protest note" to the Chinese government. A spokesman for China's foreign ministry pointed out: Zhenbao Island is indisputably Chinese territory and has been under Chinese jurisdiction for a long time, with Chinese border forces patrolling. The so-called "protest note" of the Soviet Union is the bandit logic of carrying out the socialist aggressive policy.
