Located at No.1 Youyi Road, Baoshan District, Shanghai, Shanghai, Songhu Anti Japanese War Memorial Hall was built in January 2000 and officially opened to the outside world in March of the same year. It is a special memorial hall that comprehensively reflects the two major battles in Shanghai during the Anti Japanese War: "January 28", "August 13" Songhu Anti Japanese War and the 14 year history of Shanghai People's Anti Japanese war.
Songhu Anti Japanese War Memorial Hall
Shanghai Songhu Anti Japanese War Memorial Hall is located in Baoshan, the main battlefield of the bloody Anti Japanese war in Shanghai. It is a memorial hall reflecting the theme of the two anti Japanese wars in Songhu. It adopts the architectural style of tower hall integration, with a building area of 3490 m2, an exhibition hall area of 1500 m2, and an outdoor exhibition area of nearly 8000 m2. It forms a mode of "Hall garden integration" and "culture green combination" with Shanghai Songhu Anti Japanese War Memorial Park.
Historical evolution
It was built and opened on January 28, 2000. In August 2014, it was named by the State Council as one of the first batch of 80 national anti Japanese War Memorial facilities and sites. It is the Shanghai patriotism education base, the Shanghai party history education base, and the Shanghai volunteer service base.
In October 2018, it was rated as the national research and practice education base for primary and secondary school students.
Exhibition area
There are 11 floors in the memorial hall, 1-2 of which are exhibition areas. The memorial hall displays the historical materials of the "bloody Songhu" battle on August 13. It consists of seven parts: the outbreak of China's Anti Japanese War, the battle on August 13, the climax of the Anti Japanese national salvation movement in Shanghai, the atrocities of the Japanese army in Shanghai, the support of justice, the judgment of history, and the promotion of patriotism. The exhibition is mainly composed of cultural relics, historical materials and pictures, including documents such as telegrams, warrants, campaign summaries, letters from officers and soldiers during the Anti Japanese War, military maps, commendation orders, film films, as well as weapons, uniforms and captured Japanese flags drawn by the enemy and the German Advisory Group before the war. At the same time, the exhibition is enriched with art works on Anti Japanese War, supplemented by sound, light and electricity interaction With advanced exhibition concept, it truly and objectively shows the historical features of the battle of Songhu on August 13, reveals the historical truth of the "bloody Songhu" to the world, and encourages Chinese descendants to "remember history, cherish martyrs, cherish peace and warn the future" and strive for the realization of the Chinese dream of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation. Above the fourth floor is a tower building, and the 11th floor is equipped with a viewing platform, overlooking the Yangtze River Estuary and Baoshan City.
The outdoor exhibition area includes the art installation composed of "gathering" the fire of victory, historical ripples, relief wall "Song Hu war song", "Anti Japanese War relics", sculpture "knot-1937" and "gate of history", "Shanghai Song Hu Anti Japanese war monument", "Song Hu army and people resisting Japanese army"; as well as "alarm bell", "Anti Japanese War Culture and art wall", etc.
