The mysterious ghost city of Qitai is located in Jiangjun Gobi, Qitai County, Changji Prefecture. There is a mysterious ancient city. The area of the city is about 80 square kilometers. The "ghost city" covers an area of about 10 square kilometers, with an altitude of about 350 meters. About 100 million years ago, during the Cretaceous period, there was a huge freshwater lake with dense plants growing on the lake bank. Later, after two major crustal movements, the lake became a vast land sea with sandstone and mud plate between, which is called "Gobi platform" in geosciences.
