Cao Qipeng's former residence is located in an alley at 338 Dongguan Street in the east of Yipu. It is a cultural relic protection unit of Yangzhou city. After the renovation, the front and rear two rows of main buildings, each with four houses, are connected by a group of wing rooms on the west side of the two rows of buildings. The whole building presents an inverted U-shaped pattern, with a new construction area of nearly 200 square meters. In the former residence, a stone statue of Cao Qizhen will be placed in the South living room of the main house, and the four rooms in the north are now open, which are designed as exhibition rooms of Cao Qizhen's deeds.

Cao Qijian, whose name is Jianyu, was the first leader of the Communist Party of China in Yangzhou history.
Yun Daiying joined the party in May 1925, and later served as the Party branch secretary of the provincial No.8 Middle School, the earliest party organization in Yangzhou. After August 1928, he successively served as the temporary county Party committee secretary of Yangzhou, the district Party committee secretary of Chengqu and the county Party committee secretary of Tai County. According to the needs of the revolutionary struggle at that time, he established three party branches, namely gaohanzhuang, Lijiaqiao and sunjiadun, to develop rural Party members; he went to Taizhou twice and established Taizhou Qintong District Committee, which provided a strong core of leadership for the workers' and peasants' revolutionary movement in Taizhou. In the vast rural areas, Cao Qizhen established "farmers' Association", "poor people's Association" and other farmers' organizations to fight for the interests of farmers, obtained the support of farmers, and consolidated the foundation of Party organizations in rural areas.
He not only established party organizations in rural areas, but also actively established the red flag, a relatively early local publication in the history of our party, and printed and distributed manuals such as national revolution and class struggle. After he was arrested in Taizhou on August 16, 1929, he wrote some magnificent poems in prison, such as "after the battle of Huqiu, turning to Jiaoshan, it's not easy to be the mainstay of Jiaoshan; it's not easy for Li Erzhi to have his horse wrapped around his body, why should he return it?". He died at the foot of Beigu mountain in Zhenjiang on February 24, 1931. He was only 25 years old.

Cao Qipeng's former residence, located at 338 Dongguan Street, Yangzhou, is the place where Cao Qipeng was born and grew up.
Cao Qijian, whose name is Jianyu, was the first leader of the Communist Party of China in Yangzhou history. Born in 1906 into a staff family in Yangzhou, Cao Qizhen joined the Communist Party of China in 1927. Since then, he has successively served as Acting Secretary of Yangzhou special branch, Secretary of Yangzhou temporary county Party committee, Secretary of Yangzhou county Party committee, Dongxiang special commissioner of Yangzhou special branch, and Secretary of Yangzhou District Party committee. In April 1929, he served as secretary of Taizhou temporary county Party committee. In August 1929, Cao Qifen was arrested by the Kuomintang army and police in Taizhou. On February 24, 1931, Cao Qifen and 16 other revolutionaries were killed at the foot of Beigu mountain in Zhenjiang. They were only 25 years old. In 2009, Cao Qizhen was selected as "50 Jiangsu heroes and models who made outstanding contributions to the founding of new China".
Cao Qifu laid an important foundation for the revolutionary struggle in Yangzhou. According to the needs of the revolutionary struggle at that time, he established three party branches, namely gaohanzhuang, Lijiaqiao and sunjiadun, to develop rural Party members; he went to Taizhou twice and established Taizhou Qintong District Committee, which provided a strong core of leadership for the workers' and peasants' revolutionary movement in Taizhou. In rural areas of Jiangdu, Cao Qizhen established "farmers' Association", "poor people's Association" and other farmers' organizations to fight for the interests of farmers, obtained the support of the majority of farmers, and consolidated the foundation of Party organizations in rural areas.
After liberation, Cao Qizhen's former residence was occupied and rebuilt. After the renovation and opening up, there are four houses built in the late Qing Dynasty, one in the west chamber and one in the courtyard. There is an exhibition hall of the martyrs' life stories in the former residence. There are more than 30 items on display, including display cabinets, display boards, pictures and old furniture.
Cultural relics protection units
In August 1996, Yangzhou municipal government designated the former residence as a municipal cultural relics protection unit. In August 2005, the Municipal Bureau of construction and the Bureau of cultural relics set up a monument in front of the former residence. In July 2008, Yangzhou municipal Party committee and government decided to restore the former residence of martyr Cao Qijian and establish a martyr's life story exhibition hall, which was opened to the public in October 2009. It has become an important place for Yangzhou to carry out revolutionary tradition education and patriotism education, and also an excellent place for red tourism.
