Former residence of Zhao Yidi

Zhao Yidi's former residence is commonly known as Miss Zhao Si building. Miss Zhao Si is Zhang Xueliang's second wife. She has been with Zhang Xueliang for 72 years. Former residence of Zhao Yidi

Zhao Yidi's former residence, commonly known as "Zhaosi Miss building", is an important part of the national key cultural relic protection unit Zhang Shuai Fu Museum. From 1928 to 1931, general Zhang Xueliang and Ms. Zhao Yidi lived here and gave birth to their beloved son Zhang Lulin.

Located on the east side of Zhang's mansion in Shenyang, Liaoning Province, it covers an area of 547 square meters, with a construction area of more than 400 square meters. The building is red in ochre. The Oriental frame structure is combined with herringbone beams to form a large roof. The wooden eaves are sealed, and the western style roof tiles form a typical Japanese architectural style. It looks like an independent castle. The first floor is equipped with reception room, dance hall and dining room. The second floor is equipped with sitting room, living room, piano room, bedroom and toilet. In 1996, it was listed as a national cultural relics protection unit. At the end of November 2001, it was officially opened to tourists.

The whole courtyard is quiet and elegant, exquisite and unique. It consists of more than ten rooms, such as hall, dining room, piano room, dance hall, office, bedroom, study and living room. After careful maintenance and textual research, the restored Zhao Yidi's former residence reproduces the real scene of Zhao Si's life together with general Zhang Xueliang, telling people their legendary love story.

In the summer of 1926, Zhao Yidi, the fourth daughter of Zhao Qinghua, Vice Minister of communications, fell in love with his hero Zhang Xueliang. During his convalescence in Shenyang, Zhang Xueliang called Miss Zhao Si in Tianjin to visit and play in Shenyang. With the consent of her parents, Miss Zhao Si went to Shenyang to visit general Zhang Xueliang. Unexpectedly, after Miss Zhao Si arrived in Shenyang, Zhao's father announced in the newspaper that Miss Zhao Si's trip was an elopement, breaking off the relationship between father and daughter, and no longer being an official! At this time, general Zhang Xueliang had a wife and family. Miss Zhao Si knelt down and begged his wife Yu Fengzhi to take him in. She promised that she would not be famous all her life and would accompany Zhang Xueliang as a secretary. Yu Fengzhi, the former wife of Zhang Xueliang, remembers that Miss Zhao Si is young and fatherless. She has built a two-story "Japanese style" building for Miss Zhao Si at her own expense. In 1929, Miss Zhao Si and Zhang Xueliang had their son Zhang Lulin here.

The newly renovated "Miss Zhao's fourth building" is surrounded by a newly renovated wall. The iron gate is pushed open and the courtyard is full of flowers. Bonsai is placed on the inner wall of the courtyard. The reception room, dance hall and dining room on the first floor, and the reception hall, bedroom, piano room, living room and toilet on the second floor are decorated with luxurious and unique decoration. It makes people feel the sound and smile of Miss Zhao's fourth building The ceiling of the reception hall is painted with the auspicious picture of flying crane, and the ballroom is painted with the brilliant golden top, which is very pleasing to the eye and beautiful. The French furniture in the room can be called fine art. The sofa, table, chair, bed and other materials are well selected, and the workmanship is poor, which shows the beauty of luxury and elegance. It reflects Zhao Yidi's personality of pursuing romantic life and pursuing academic progress, and truly represents Zhao Yidi The scene of living together with Zhang Xueliang witnessed their touching love story.

On June 30, 1990, Zhu Luoyun, Zhang Xueming's wife and also Zhao Yidi's classmate, and Zhu Haibei, Zhang Xueliang's former headquarters, visited the "Miss Zhao Si building".

On May 9, 1994, Zhang Lulin, the son of Zhang Xueliang and Miss Zhao Si, and his wife made a special trip from the United States to visit "Marshal Zhang's Mansion". They specially asked to see Miss Zhao Si's building, and the leader of the museum readily agreed. It turned out that Zhao Yidi specially entrusted him to see "Miss Zhao Si building". "My mother said that when she lived on the second floor, she could see the light of the brothel through the window," Zhang said Now, Miss Zhao's building has been restored to its original appearance. If Zhang Lu Lin revisits her hometown, she will be filled with emotion.

Zhao Yidi and Zhang Xueliang died in the United States on June 22, 2000 and October 14, 2001. Zhang Xueliang's former residence Museum sent a telegram of condolence and elegiac couplets. It is a pity that the legendary couple failed to revisit "Miss Zhao Si Lou" in their whole life.
