history
The cathedral is the first church in the diocese, because there are bishop seats in it. At present, the church has been listed as an ancient and historic site in Hong Kong. It is a protected historical relic and a unique tourist attraction. To avoid termite erosion caused by air-conditioned water and damage to antiquities and monuments, therefore, there is no air-conditioning supply for the seat hall. In addition to the seats for bishops, the seats for priests of law and government and the seats for priests of the cathedral, there are also seats for members of the congregation cast with the British Royal emblem from the British colonial era, which are reserved for the governor of Hong Kong or members of the British royal family when they worship in Hong Kong. In 1997 (the sovereignty of Hong Kong was transferred from the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to the people's Republic of China - July 1, 1997), the former seat hall was once hung with the British flag. After 1997, it was demolished and worshipped every day. There are also morning and evening worship. The language of worship is English, Cantonese, Mandarin and Filipino. The worshippers come from all over the world. It is an international chapel.
