Baiyun temple
Baiyun'an, on the west side of Leifeng Pagoda site in the setting sun, was the famous garden of Song Dynasty "Cuifang garden". During the reign of Guangxu, Ding Songsheng, a famous book collector in Hangzhou, rebuilt the library.
It is on the west side of Leifeng Pagoda site at the foot of Xizhao mountain. The water and trees in the garden are green, and the sky is bright. There are many flowers in the back of the temple. The mountains and rocks are indeed stacked exquisitely, and the path leads to seclusion, which makes it a unique landscape. Qi Qi Qi Qin couch, suitable location, left worship under the moon old man.
It was a famous garden in Song Dynasty. During the reign of Yongzheng in the Qing Dynasty, Wang Xian, a member of the county, valued jiarongzhi and changed his name to Ciyun. He built pavilions and pavilions, planted flowers and trees, and built a bridge along the dike to connect the lake. When Emperor Qianlong of Qing Dynasty visited the South (1757), he named it "Yiyuan" and wrote a plaque of "Xiangyun Fayu". Later, it was renamed "baiyun'an". During the reign of Xianfeng (1851-1861), it was destroyed by war.
During the reign of Guangxu (1875-1908), Ding Songsheng, a famous book collector in Hangzhou, rebuilt the library. Ding Songsheng is a man of great learning. When he rebuilt Baiyun nunnery, he did a few elegant things, which made tourists infatuated. For the first elegant thing, many elegant couplets were added, such as: "the bright moon shines between the pines, and the clear spring stone flows upward"; "the water in the bottle fills the moon, and the pine and cypress in the sleeve stir up the clouds"; "it is willing to drop the hands of Buddha, and make the heart as flat as the heart.". The most interesting one is a pair of humorous long couplets in front of Maitreya hall, which often makes visitors laugh: "every day I carry empty cloth bags, but I have little rice and no money, but I have a big stomach and wide arms. I don't know what to use to support tanyue's confidence. Every year I sit in the Cold Mountain Gate and wait for Li, I always see him happy. What's the pride of Toutuo?" The second elegant thing is to create a "portrait of the old man under the moon" in the nunnery with a pair of couplets: "may there be lovers in the world, and they all become relatives; it's a predestined thing in previous life, so don't miss the marriage." They also printed some ambiguous signatures. Every couple who came here to ask for a signature will be attracted by the "vulgar" and "elegant" word games, which will make them more infatuated and unforgettable.
At the end of the Qing Dynasty, baiyun'an was one of the secret meeting places for revolutionaries in Zhejiang Province. He presided over monk Deshan and his apprentice Yizhou, and participated in revolutionary organizations under the influence of revolutionaries. Sun Yat Sen, Xu Xilin, Qiu Jin, Tao Chengzhang, etc. have all been to baiyun'an.
In 1907, before he went to Anqing, Xu Xilin lived in this nunnery for many days. During this period, he invited Qiu Jin, Ma Zonghan, Chen Boping and LV Gongwang to Baiyun nunnery to discuss the uprising in Anhui and Zhejiang at the same time. Chen Yingshi, Huang Ying and Dai Jitao of the alliance also visited baiyun'an many times. The revolutionaries who came here successively to discuss the revolutionary events include Cai Yuanpei, Zhang Taiyan, Chu Fucheng, Wang Jinfa, etc.
On October 10, 1911, Wuchang Uprising broke out. Chen Yingshi, Zhuang zipan, Yao Yongchen and others rushed to Hangzhou from Shanghai. They invited Zhu Rui, Gu Naibin, Chu Fucheng, Ge Jingen, Yu Wei, Wu Siyu, Tong Baoxuan, Fu Qiyong and others from the revolutionary party to a meeting in baiyun'an to plot a rapid uprising.
After the founding of the Republic of China, Dr. Sun Yat Sen visited baiyun'an and inscribed a plaque on it to commemorate the monk Deshan who had lived in seclusion in the ancient Haining temple. When the Anti Japanese war broke out, baiyun'an was burned by the Japanese army.
During the Anti Japanese War, when Hangzhou was occupied, baiyun'an was used as a shelter for guerrillas. Later, it was discovered by the Japanese army, and Yizhou fled, and the temple was demolished.
