Fairy peak
Xiannv peak is located in Loudi City, Hunan Province. Xiannv mountain ranks first among the four famous mountains in Xiangtan City (Xiannv mountain, Zhaoshan mountain, Jinxia mountain and Yinshan Mountain). It is about 20 kilometers northwest of Xiangtan city. It is surrounded by granite and connected to the top.
The origin of the name
Xiannv mountain was originally known as Long'an mountain. Zen master Hai, a famous monk from Shaanxi Province in Tang Dynasty, came here to build a temple and named it "Long'an Temple" (according to the tablet of Zen master Long'an by Liu Zongyuan). As for the mountain is known as "fairy mountain", but longan mountain is forgotten because of a legend: about Song Dynasty, there lived a couple of mother-in-law and daughter-in-law at the foot of the mountain, whose mother-in-law was loyal and generous, and whose daughter-in-law was industrious and frugal, collecting medicine and weaving. One day, her mother-in-law suddenly fainted, and when she woke up, her eyes were dark and blind. In order to cure her mother-in-law's eyes, her daughter-in-law went to the mountain to collect herbs every day. Once she was very tired. She sat under a big tree and had a rest. As soon as she closed her eyes, she saw a beautiful young girl with a bright red peach in her hand. She came to her with a smile and said, "take this peach back to her mother-in-law, and her eyes will be fine." The daughter-in-law was so surprised and happy that she quickly opened her eyes and saw that the girl had disappeared. Strange to say, my mother-in-law just finished eating peaches. She felt hot all over and her eyes were swollen. After a while, the eyes reappeared bright, and clearer than before. Everyone said that this is a kind-hearted mother-in-law, filial daughter-in-law, moved to save the fairy. In order to express their respect for the fairy, people changed the name of the mountain to "fairy mountain" and "Long'an Temple" was also called "fairy Temple".
County records
According to the annals of Anhua County in Tongzhi, there are thirty-six bends: "every bend has a small earth temple, where visitors kowtow to the land to help the gods to climb the mountain.". When you climb to the peak, you can see from all directions. There is a tendency that you can see the stars on the wall and the red world from below. You can have a panoramic view of the scenery in Hunan, Anxian and Xinzhou. The well-known "Zihua nunnery" is built on the top of the peak, just like the qiongge Pavilion in Sendai. The first thing you see is the mountain gate, which is 5 meters high and 6 meters wide. It is all made of stone, covering an area of about 35 square meters. The two arches are symmetrical. The arch is engraved with the picture of two lions fighting for the ball. The Taiji picture and two trigrams are engraved in the middle of the arc. Up there is a regular script stone plaque of "ziyunfeng". On top of it is a stone carving of erlongxizhu. On the ridge of the mast is a fish tail. There is a "Buddha" seal in the town of the ridge. There is a well beside the door, which never stops Dry up. The roller coaster gate is Zihua nunnery, which is composed of three small halls. The first hall is made of brick and wood, followed by thirty-seven stone steps to the second Hall. There is a stone platform with a stone dragon pillar on the platform, which is lifelike. The third hall is also built of stone. The stone pillars in front of the hall are supported by drum holding stones. Inside the hall are statues of nine heaven Xuannv. The three halls echo each other. They are extremely beautiful in architecture. In addition, the surrounding trees are lush, and wintersweet is everywhere, which makes the temple more beautiful.
Historical evolution
Destroyed
In 1951 and 1965, the hall was seriously damaged twice, and the three halls collapsed, but the mountain gate was well preserved.
Rebuild Xinyu
In 1996, the local people donated money to rebuild the new building at the peak: 4-5 meters high stone parapet was used to expand the foundation area, reinforced concrete structure was used to resist the mountain wind, 12 columns were used to form a gallery for visitors to look at, and yellow glass roof was used to show the solemnity of the temple, which was more brilliant than in the past; if it was sunny, the temple could be seen in dozens of miles.
According to ER Xiu, the abbot of the nunnery, when Zihua nunnery was rebuilt in 1995 and the well was converted into a rocking well, a Tang stele with an area of about 1.5 square feet was excavated from the bottom of the well. The main idea of the stele is: in the second year of Zhenguan reign of Tang Dynasty, an old man saw nine women bathing in a pond in youcaotang. He urged the man to look at them quickly and the nine women flew to the peak. People call it fairy peak, and build Maoan at the top of it. Unfortunately, the monument was smashed by ignorant villagers and made into concrete materials. However, this allusion can be confirmed from the existing temple steles: "since the Tang Dynasty, there were nine fairies flying in the form of cranes. Ruiying reflected the peak and prospered Qianlong. Ruiming, the ancestor of Emperor Qianlong, built three temples in 1653. Qianlong 29 years (1764) Shanmen Buddha stele records: "taste fairy mountain, ancient and modern considerable, people look up to, fengle first scene also.". According to the annals of Anhua County in Tongzhi, "every year, there are many good men and women, rich CHILDES, and pilgrims to the mountains. They also become the ninth most famous mountain in the area.". From these records, we can see the history of Zihua nunnery. In order to protect it, Lianyuan municipal government listed it as a county-level protection unit in 1989, and determined the surrounding 20 meters as the protection area.
Structural features
Fairy temple is divided into three pavilions. Each has its own gate square, facing south from the north, built against the mountain, with green brick walls, glazed tiles, carved beams and painted buildings. There are three characters "Long'an Temple" written on the door of the temple, and the couplet "four dynasties spirit trace; three Chu Grand View" written by he Shaoji, a calligrapher of the Qing Dynasty. Behind the gate is the temple of King Wu. In front of the gate is a pair of stone lions, in which a statue of Guan Yunchang is worshipped. The central hall is the Niangniang hall. There are two halls around the hall. There are inscriptions on the four walls of the eastern hall, monks' houses and rest rooms for tourists, and relief sculptures of eight immortals on the wall. There are two pools outside the West Hall. One is a releasing pool. In the pool, there is a big living turtle with the four characters "a thousand years old" engraved on its back. One is the Swan pool. The stone crevices on the four walls are flooded and the drought lasts for a long time. It is said that the Swan pond can also produce oil, salt and grains automatically. The back hall is the ancestral hall. There is also a slope called horseback ridge. Tang Shengzhi, the general of the northern expedition, came here to watch the mountain on horseback.
According to an stele, "since the Tang Dynasty, there have been nine fairies flying in the form of cranes. Rui reflects on this peak and flourishes Qianlong. Ruiming, the ancestor of Qianlong, founded and built three temples during the reign of Guiji in Shunzhi.". There is also a mountain gate, as well as the monk's bedroom and miscellaneous house. The gate is about 5 meters high and 6 meters wide. The middle of the gate is engraved with the word "Zihua nunnery". The upper layer is embossed with the word "Shuanglong Xizhu" and the top is decorated with the word "Buddha". Each door frame is carved with a door god. A little to the left in front of the mountain gate are Rock Springs and wells, which are often clear all the year round and can be used for drinking. There is a stone on the right in front of the door, which is shaped like a pestle and mortar. It is said that it was used by a fairy to stamp medicine. Enter the gate along the stone road to the first hall, climb the 37 stone steps to the second hall, and then climb the three stone steps to the third hall. There is a Buddha statue in the hall, and the beauty of fairies is painted on the wall. In addition to the brick and wood structure of the first and second halls, the mountain gate, the temple base and the third hall are all stone buildings. The three halls are connected with each other, and stand on the top of the peak, covered by green trees, such as the qiongge Pavilion in Sendai. In the 35th year of Qianlong reign (1764 AD), the eight pavilions at the Mountain Gate recorded: "you can taste the famous fairy mountain, which is very impressive in ancient and modern times, and everyone looks up to it. Fengle (at that time, this place belonged to fengle township of Anhua County) was the first scene.".
The landscape of Xiannv mountain has been damaged in the past, but it has been gradually restored since 1960. Now it is full of green trees, shady Chinese fir and pine, and picturesque with birds chirping. Every spring and autumn, visitors like weaving.
