Former site of Marine Club

Qingdao is an excellent historical building and a key cultural relic protection unit in China. Also known as the Navy Hotel, the building area of 4487.5 square meters, about 15 meters high, two floors above the ground, one floor underground, there are lofts. It was designed in 1899, started in May 1901 and completed the following year. It is one of the representative works of early German architecture in Qingdao. The building is in the style of German Neo Renaissance, with the first large auditorium in Qingdao, which can accommodate about 700 seats. It is one of the earliest film screening units in Qingdao. After Japan occupied Qingdao for the second time, the building was the office of the Japanese resident group and the Japanese overseas Chinese Association. 1945, for the U.S. Navy Club. After the liberation of Qingdao, the building was the office building of the Communist Youth League Qingdao Municipal Committee. It is now used by Qingdao civil air defense office.
