Yuefei temple in Zhuxian Town

The Yuefei temple in Zhuxian Town was built in the Ming Dynasty (1479). Together with Tangyin, Wuchang and Hangzhou Yuefei temples, it is known as the four largest Yuefei temples in China and abroad. Yuefei temple in Zhuxian Town is commonly known as Yuewang temple. Located in Zhuxian Town, 22 kilometers southwest of Kaifeng City, Henan Province, the temple was built in the autumn and September of the 16th year of Chenghua (1470). The temple covers an area of 27 mu. It faces south in the north, with a rectangular veranda and three courtyards. After many times of renovation and reconstruction in Ming and Qing Dynasties, the whole hall is magnificent, with numerous steles and pavilions. It is rich and colorful, and has attracted Yu Qian, Emperor Qianlong, Yang Chengwu, Zhu Muzhi, Hu Yaobang and other historical celebrities to stay here. Together with Tangyin, Wuchang and Hangzhou Yuefei temples, it is known as the four largest Yuefei temples in China and enjoys a good reputation at home and abroad.

About Yue Fei

Yue Fei, a great patriot, took part in the war against Jin Dynasty by his mother's four words of "be loyal to the country" in order to fight against the Jin soldiers. He had both wisdom and courage, and made many miraculous achievements. He was soon promoted from an ordinary soldier to a chief General of the war against Jin Dynasty. In 1140, Yue Fei led the northern expedition, defeated the Jinbing in Yancheng and won the famous victory in Zhuxian Town. Just as Yue Fei was about to recover Tokyo (today's Kaifeng), the traitorous emperor and Qin Hui won 12 gold medals in one day and ordered him to withdraw. Yue Fei lamented that "ten years of success will be destroyed once.". Later, he was killed by Zhao Gou, Qin Hui and others in the name of "unnecessary".

In 1134 and 1136, Yue Fei made another Northern Expedition, and got in touch with the Taihang Mountain volunteers, and recovered a large area of land in the south of the Yangtze River and Huanghuai River; in 1140, Yue Fei led the northern expedition to Tokyo (now Kaifeng, Henan Province), the capital of the Jin army, and achieved great victories in Yancheng and Zhuxian. Just as the Yuejia army won the battle, the traitorous emperor and treacherous minister Qin Hui won 12 gold medals in one day. As a result, Yue Fei had no choice but to obey. He sighed: ten years of success, once destroyed. Then Qin Hui colluded with Zhang Jun and others to kill Yue Fei on December 29, Shaoxing, at the age of 39.
