Tatar mosque, also known as Turkish mosque, is said to be the only Tatar mosque in northern China. It was built in 1901 and completed in 1906. In 1922, in order to commemorate the 1000th anniversary of the Tatar ancestors believing in Islam, the Tatars living in China, Japan and Korea donated money to rebuild. The original believers of the mosque were mainly Turks and Russian iters. These Islamists were called Tatars in Russia, so the mosque was called Tatar mosque.

Historical evolution

In 1922, Tatars living in China, Japan and Korea donated money to commemorate the 1000th anniversary of their ancestors believing in Islam. It was completed on October 15, 1937.
In August 1953, the Tatar mosque was rented to Harbin branch of China National Hardware Machinery Corporation by kitayev, the then trustee. Akeqiulina was appointed as the guardian of the property rights of the temple. In 1966, it was borrowed by the Ministry of people's armed forces of Daoli District.
In the late 1990s, akqiulina, the then Temple Guardian, came to the United States, contacted the religious affairs administration of the State Council through the Tatar Association of the United States, and decided to return the temple to the Harbin Islamic Association.
In May 2001, Harbin municipal government handed over the temple to the City Islamic Association. At the same time, Harbin municipal government invested 2.06 million yuan to move the residents in the hospital, repair and decorate the building according to its original appearance, set up European style transparent fence, built 1200 square meters of square and laid more than 700 square meters of lawn.
On January 31, 2005, it was announced by Heilongjiang Provincial People's government as a provincial cultural relic protection unit and a class I protected building in Harbin.
Scale system
The five storey tower of the Tatar mosque has a green dome, red and white walls, tall and straight minarets, opposite domes on both sides, and pointed arched windows, which are filled with solemn, quiet and heavy religious atmosphere. There are small halls on both sides of the main entrance hall, one hall for the entrance hall, one small hall and two offices on the second floor as well as staircase for the upper minaret, and bathroom and toilet in the basement.

There are two main features in the artistic treatment of the building: one is that its entrance is at the top of the hall, and there is a thin and high light tower with division and segmentation, which is similar to a cone. This kind of light tower has a peculiar shape, which originated from Arabia. Under the tower is the main entrance of the building, with prominent emphasis. Second, on the main hall, there is a central dome without a drum seat and with Byzantine style, which forms the composition center of the whole building and forms the vertical axis. The dome and light tower are one in front of the other. The tower is steep and erect. The dome is graceful and full of vitality.
There is a 30 × 40 cm Marble Plaque on the right wall of the temple, which is engraved in Turkic. It is translated as "Imam gnayeti ahemaidi, founder of Harbin Muslim Association in the Far East and a good mosque builder for a thousand years! After his death, the successors of his career, Munir and aguiti, fulfilled their duties in this way. Congratulations to Mr. mizgala. Nizamu wrote it himself. "
