Binglang River

Binglang river area is located one kilometer north of Fenghuang Road, Sanya City, with the West Railway in the South and the water source reservoir in the north. It is located in the downstream of the water source reservoir and on both sides of Binglang river. There are 15 pure Li natural settlements in this area, with a population of more than 5000, belonging to one branch of the five major Li dialects in Hainan. Introduction:

In the past, due to the long-term occlusion of the Binglang River, the Li villagers still maintained the traditional slash and burn farming mode of agricultural production, and the economy was extremely backward. Most of the houses in the village are built in the style of boat houses, which are built in disorder and dilapidated. In every typhoon season, in case of strong storm and rain, they are seriously damaged. In the rainy season, the roads in the village are muddy and difficult to walk. The Binlang river often floods, and the embankment collapses, flooding the surrounding farmland, resulting in crop failure and poor living of the villagers.

Origin:

Binglang river is located in the middle reaches of liuluo River, a tributary of West River in Sanya. Its total length is 3 km, crossing Binglang village. It has always been a flooded area with nine floods in ten years. The long-term traffic congestion and flood caused the long-term economic backwardness of Binglang village. In September 2005, typhoon Davey landed in Sanya. The flood swept the Bank of the Binglang River, inundated countless houses and destroyed dozens of village roads. Ten thousand mu of wonderful forests and fields were vast and the loss of crops was serious. The affected population reached more than 20000 people. The average submergence depth of Binglang Village was 1.2 meters. "Soil on sunny days, mud on rainy days" was the true portrayal of Binglang village at that time.

In order to solve the problem of people's livelihood, Sanya Municipal Party committee and government carried out river regulation of the Binglang river section from 2006 to 2007, with a total investment of more than 20 million yuan, which solved the problems of collapse and soil erosion on both sides of the Binglang river section, improved the flood discharge capacity of the river, and protected the life and property safety of all the villagers in Binglang village. In order to actively respond to the call of "building a new socialist countryside" put forward by the Fifth Plenary Session of the 16th CPC Central Committee, the municipal Party committee and the municipal government have invested more than 17 million yuan to improve the water, electricity, roads and other infrastructure and cultural and sports facilities in the village.
