Peace Tower
The Peace Tower, whose full name is World Peace Tower, is located in the eastern suburb of Rangoon, Myanmar, on the mount srimongaro hill, 11 kilometers away from the urban area. "Si Li" means "supreme" in Pali, and "Meng Jia Luo" means "auspicious". Therefore, Peace Tower is also called "supreme auspicious pagoda of peace in the world". This pagoda is one of the famous pagodas in Myanmar. The Peace Tower is not very old. In Myanmar, which is known as "the land of pagodas", it is considered as a "young" one. This pagoda was built for the sixth gathering of Buddhism. The foundation was laid in 1950 and completed in 1952.
Different from other ancient pagodas, Heping pagoda is made of reinforced concrete. The tower is 36 meters high and the platform is more than 90 meters long. There are six doors in the tower, each of which is dedicated to a Buddha statue, symbolizing the sixth assembly. In the treasure house of the Peace Tower, there are statues of Sakyamuni's two disciples, muqianlian and Sharif's Shariki and Buddha mithida, as well as a 1-ton silver Buddha statue. There are also two relics presented by the Chinese Buddhist delegation in 1955, which were originally dedicated to the Potala Palace in Tibet, a photocopy of the Chinese Tibetan scriptures 800 years ago, as well as the Han Tibetan monk's clothes, bowls and sticks, all of which are placed in the display cabinet of the pagoda niche. In the northeast of the Peace Tower, there is a building called "Jixiang mountain". Under the mountain, there is a big stone cave called "Dasheng Grottoes". The grottoes are 139 meters long and 113 meters wide, and can hold more than 10000 bhikkhs. There are six pillars, six doors, six Falun reliefs on the wall of the grottoes, and six candle shaped electric torches on the altar, all of which symbolize the sixth gathering of Buddhism. Jixiang mountain and Dasheng grottoes were founded in 1953 and completed in 1954, two years later than the Peace Tower. When they were completed, the 2500 year anniversary commemoration ceremony of Buddha's entry and extinction was held. There are also Buddhist halls, sutra rooms and Buddhist caves on Jixiang mountain. In the upper left corner of the mountain is the altar, in the lower right corner is the Myanmar church's club, and on the right side is baliver college. It is also the main ashram for Buddhist festivals in Myanmar.
