Ming Daoguan site
Ming Taoist temple was founded in 1714, the 53rd year of Kangxi reign of Qing Dynasty. It is located on a high mountain with an altitude of 700 meters. It is the highest Taoist temple among the existing palaces, temples, and nunneries in Laoshan mountain.
Ming Taoist temple ruins, the palace exquisite white clouds, fairy music wind everywhere. The whole Taoist temple used to be a square courtyard, 30 meters from east to west, 25 meters from north to south, with three main halls, six left side halls and three right side halls; four East and four West Wing rooms each. Now some of them have collapsed, with only frames left in the East and foundations left in the West. There is also a stone table on the north side of the courtyard, which is left over from ancient times. There are three ginkgo trees outside the temple, with the height of more than 20 meters, the highest of nearly 30 meters, the diameter at breast height of about 1 meter, and the age of more than 1000 years. On the east side of the stream in the southwest of Mingdao temple, there is a big stone, which is engraved with the eight characters of "Chi suntan Caixian yaoshanfang" and the statue of Guanyin Bodhisattva, beside which is engraved with the characters of "Chi suntan Caixian yaoshanfang in the second year of Tianbao". There is a huge stone 30 meters to the west, with an inscription of more than 60 words, which records that sun tan came to Laoshan to collect medicine. Because of his age, the stone was weathered and eroded, and the characters are hard to recognize. The words "Sun Tan was granted the imperial edict to collect the immortal medicine on March 6, the second year of Tianbao in the Tang Dynasty" can be vaguely recognized. These inscriptions were later engraved by Sun Tan's disciples, which is enough to prove that as early as 1200 years ago, there were alchemists who came to Laoshan to collect herbs and make pills. The existing Taoist architecture was founded here by song Tiancheng, a descendant of Tian Baiyun, a Taoist of Baiyun cave in the reign of Emperor Kangxi of Qing Dynasty. On the right side of the mountain gate, there are three words of "mingdaoguan" written in 1910. Mingdao temple was originally founded by sun Buer of Baiyun cave, but later changed to Jinshan School of Quanzhen in the middle of Qianlong period. There are two natural caves on zhaofengling mountain behind the Ming Taoist temple: one is called "natural cave", which used to be the place of Taoist cultivation in the temple; the other is called "Sanzhen cave", which is also called "Sanxian cave".
