Xu's own living is an independent compound, covering an area of 6.35 mu, with 26 buildings and 4 bungalows, with a construction area of 1085 square meters. It is a western style three story building with mixed structure and red brick roof. In front of the building, there are four steps and platforms, with red clay brick facing. On the first floor, there are living room, rest room, dressing room, dining room and bathroom; on the second floor, there are bedrooms, study, office and inner living room; on the third floor, there are top rooms. In 1927, he bought 9 mu of Hansen house under the pseudonym of Xu Chenqiao, and built a western style brick and tile three story building, with 27 rooms and 17 bungalows. This building is a garden house with beautiful appearance. There are rockeries, pavilions, fish ponds, flower cellars, etc. in the courtyard.
"Yandu congkao" states: "former president Xu Donghai's residence is in five alleys." Another record: "you Bei is called Qihe building. The former residence of Zhang Yuanbo's chief, zhitan, is now Tsinghua students' Association. There is also a small alley in the north, where President Xu Donghai once lived during the period of Xuantong. " This house faces north and south, with a sparrow in front of the golden pillar gate, which is very tall. The East-West back cover room inside the door is actually the inverted seat room, which has been reconstructed. There are five North rooms in the front, three wing rooms in the East and three in the west, and the West has been replaced with cement tiles. In the south is a two-story building with five rooms in width. The original cornice panels and lantern lattice windows are still preserved in the external decoration. At the west end of the room is a wooden staircase, which can reach the second floor. It goes out of the corridor to the north and connects a three room wide building to the West. The whole hospital is a hard mountain house with a ridge and a tube tile. This house was built in the early Republic of China. Now it is a dormitory of a unit.

Xu Shichang, a native of Tianjin, was born in 1855. At the end of Qing Dynasty, he served as Minister of military aircraft twice. After 1911, he was the president of Beiyang Government in 1918. In 1922, Cao Kun forced him to step down and live in Tianjin.
Xu Shichang (1855-1939.6.6), whose name is bu Wu, was born in the city of Weihui, Henan Province (now the residence of caoying street in the county seat of Ji county). In 1879, Xu and Yuan Shikai became brothers of the alliance and got yuan's financial support to go north to take the exam. He was elected first, and then the Jinshi. He was awarded the Imperial Academy editor. In 1897, when Yuan Shikai was training in a small station, he became an important counselor of yuan, and since then he has been promoted. In 1907, the Northeast was re established as a province, and Xu was appointed governor of the three eastern provinces. Many measures were taken to consolidate the rule of the Qing government in the northeast. In May 1911, the Qing government set up a royal cabinet with Xu as assistant minister. When the revolution of 1911 broke out, Xu urged Yuan Shikai to suppress the revolution. In November of the same year, Yuan organized a responsible cabinet, and Xu was appointed military advisory minister, adding the rank of Taibao. In March 1912, Yuan Shikai succeeded as the provisional president of the Republic of China, and Xu Li resigned from Taibao to wait and see the situation change. In May 1914, Yuan Shikai appointed Xu Shichang as secretary of state. The following year, Yuan openly promoted monarchy, and Xu retreated to Shuizhu village, Huixian County, Henan Province. In March 1916, yuan was forced to abolish the imperial system, restore the year of the Republic of China, and appointed Xu as secretary of state. Xu did his best for yuan in both public and private aspects. Xu recommended Duan Qirui as his successor after only one month in office.
