History and culture

After that, every dynasty stationed troops here, which was an important military fortress in the ancient north. The city is built according to the natural mountains. The valley is deep and the spring is endless. It is built in the city. It can be attacked when entering and defended when retreating. The mountain city is built with huge granite stones. The highest part is 9.4 meters, the inner wall is 1.24 meters high and the top is 3.29 meters wide. The original East-West wall has been toppled, but the old remains are still intact in other places. There are forbidden city, dianjiangtai, dressing house, beacon tower, training ground and yinmawan in the city. It is one of the important mountain cities of the northern minorities and the Central Plains. It is said that Li Shimin, Emperor Taizong of the Tang Dynasty, once stationed troops here when he defeated Koguryo.

From the unearthed cultural relics, there are rope pattern red tile pottery, ring head iron knife, Kaiyuan Tongbao ancient coins and a large number of decorative bricks from the Wei and Jin Dynasties. Archaeological studies show that these cultural relics have a history of more than one thousand years. From the Warring States period to the Wei and Jin Dynasties, there were constant wars and social unrest during the three or four hundred years. At that time, as a local power, Weiba mountain city managed the surrounding areas, which played an important role in stabilizing Liaodong and in the development of local politics, economy and culture.

Tourism information

1. Go to the ancient city: start from Dalian railway station and arrive at Pulandian railway station in about an hour. The long-distance bus station is on the left side of the station. The bus runs every 20 minutes or so and reaches Xingtai town in about 70 minutes. Get on the bus and tell the master to go to the ancient city. He will tell you where to get off. After getting off the bus, there is a minibus on the side of the road, which can be sent to the temple in the ancient city.

2. Back to Dalian: when we came back, we left a phone call from the van driver to pick us up from the ancient city and wait for the bus back to Pulandian railway station by the roadside. The bus that we came to said that it was like going back to the city at 3:00 at the latest, but there should be other buses that can go back to the city. We waited for a long time on the side of the road and didn't get a car. When we met a private car, it was like a free ride. It took us to the railway station. It was 10 yuan per person for four people. As the earliest train leaves at 18 o'clock, you should take a bus back to Dalian railway station. It's safest to buy a ticket at the window of the bus station. You can return to Dalian railway station in about 1 hour and 20 minutes.

3. Schedule: we get up early and take the 7:55 bus to Pulandian, then back to Xingtai town and get to the mountain about 10:30.
