Scenery
At the east end of the suspension bridge lane of Linton Road, there used to be a large-scale and beautiful garden - Baoshu garden.
Baoshu garden was built in the Ming Dynasty at the beginning of GUI Zhan. It belongs to the same owner as Huiyin garden. It has exquisite stone caves, a hall called "mizhang" and the name of the garden used to be called "Qieyin Shanfang". (it's just a word different from Huiyin garden)
The water rockery "Xiaolin house" cave in Huiyin garden is well-known because it was built by Zhou Bingzhong, a master of stone folding in Ming Dynasty. Although it has experienced many vicissitudes and has been abandoned for several times, it is still full of towering rocks and remains.
And the treasure tree garden has long been gone. In its position, it is now a secluded alley, called Gu's garden.
Suzhou's alleys have always been full of hidden dragons and tigers. Behind the simple Shiku doors and wooden doors, there are often moving stories one after another.
No. 4 and No. 7 of Gu's garden are very common Suzhou houses, which are nothing special with other portals in this alley. It is in this ordinary residence that Mr. Gu Jiegang, a famous scholar, spent his childhood and youth.
history
Mr. Gu Jiegang's ancestor was a farmer and student in Weiting town. He moved to Suzhou City during the Wanli period of the Ming Dynasty. "Since then, my family has been a city dweller. Although the family's income still depends on the land tax, my lifestyle has changed from a rich farmer to a citizen. This is the first big change in my family. \"This is Mr. Gu Jiegang's own statement of his family's history. Gu's ancestors once built seven garden houses in the city, which were not very small in scale. At first, the treasure tree garden belonging to Gui family also became the property of Gu family. Due to its long history, it is difficult to find out what kind of story happened when it changed hands and owners. However, the context of treasure tree garden, Gu family garden, is clearly visible. I only know that it was in the late Ming and early Qing Dynasty that Gu Qiyun, a member of Fu society, got the garden. At that time, the garden was full of exquisite rocks and clouds. In particular, there were many kinds of Camellia in the garden. Gu Qiyun himself is scattered in the rivers and lakes. He often sings in the garden with some literati like you dong. Gu Bingzhong, the grandson of Gu Qiyun, built "Anshi hall" in the garden. After the occupation of Suzhou by the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom in 1860, the area of Huiyin garden was used by Chen Bingwen. After the failure of the Taiping army, it was turned into an official property and turned into a weaving Bureau. The houses in the garden were also rented by others, and the landscape of the garden was seriously damaged. Gu's family also has Yayuan, Yiyuan, xiuye thatched cottage, etc. in the area of old pre-school and causal lane, and there are other houses in panru lane. After entering the Qing Dynasty, many of Gu's ancestors entered the court as officials, or wrote and printed books. When Emperor Kangxi went to Jiangnan, he once praised them as "the first scholar in Jiangnan". However, in the late years of Qianlong, some of Gu's properties were seized due to the involvement of the relief case, which led to the decline of his family, and most of these houses and gardens were destroyed.
