Yang Tingbao's former residence
Yang Tingbao's former residence is also known as "Chengxian Xiaozhu". It is located at 104 Chengxian street, Xuanwu District. It was designed and built by Mr. Yang Tingbao in October 1946.
Architectural features
The former residence house covers an area of about one thousand square meters. There are many beautiful trees in the yard, such as pine, toon, loquat, etc. it is tall and green, with thick shade. Also opened a few soil moisture vegetable beds, green leaves oil, vibrant. There is a stone well at the head of soil moisture. The north courtyard wall has a small flower house and a clump of xiuhuang, which is full of poetic charm. The gate is made of iron, facing the street and facing the West. There are two cottages in the southwest corner of the hospital, which were used to be gatehouses but are now vacant. Turn north along the concrete road with more than ten meters of holly road to the former residence building in the northeast of the courtyard. The main building of the former residence, facing south, is a western style three Bay two-story building with brick concrete structure, wooden doors and windows, internal stairs, red flat tile roof, beige gray powder exterior wall, with a construction area of 164 square meters. The model is simple, economical and practical. A portrait of Mr. Yang Tingbao is hung in the hall on the first floor, with a smile on his face and a calm look. The living room in the West and the study in the East are still decorated before Yang was born. The living room was the place for Yang Laoping to receive his guests, and the study was his study. Three bedrooms on the second floor, clean and comfortable. Another kitchen and bathroom bungalow, located in the Northeast Wai wall. . The significance of protection
In 1992, Nanjing Municipal People's government listed Yang Tingbao's former residence as a municipal cultural relic protection unit to commemorate his outstanding contribution in the history of modern Chinese architecture.
Related people
Yang Tingbao (1901-1982), Renhui, was born in Nanyang, Henan Province. Born in an intellectual family, he was influenced by painting art since childhood. In 1915, he entered Beijing Tsinghua preparatory school for studying in the United States. Because of his excellent performance, he jumped two grades. He went to the University of Pennsylvania in 1921. He is intelligent, diligent and talented. He has won many awards in the national architecture student design competition. In 1924, he won the American government Art Association Award and Emerson award, during which he interned in Cray architects. After receiving his master's degree in 1925, he visited Europe. After returning to China in 1927, he, together with Guan Songsheng, Zhu bin and others, founded "Jitai Engineering Department" in Tianjin, and Yang Tingbao was an architect. In 1940, he was also a professor of Architecture Department of Central University. Since the founding of the people's Republic of China, he has successively served as vice president of Nanjing Institute of technology, director of the Department of architecture, director of the Architectural Research Institute, member of the academic department of the Chinese Academy of technology, and the fifth chairman of the Chinese Architectural Society. He has been re elected as vice chairman of the International Association of architects for two consecutive terms and deputy to the first to Fifth National People's Congress. He has successively served as vice chairman of the fourth CPPCC and vice chairman of Jiangsu Province He is at the rank of chief.

After liberation, he took part in the design of Tiananmen Square and the top ten buildings in Beijing. In particular, he presided over the design of Beijing Peace Hotel, which was praised by Premier Zhou Enlai. In addition, he also presided over the design of the memorial tower of Xuzhou Huaihai Campaign, Chairman Mao Memorial Hall, Memorial Hall of Nanjing Yuhuatai Martyrs Cemetery, bridgehead of Nanjing Yangtze River Bridge, Wutaishan gymnasium and other major projects. His various architectural works have become a milestone of modern architecture in China. At the same time, he is also one of the founders of Modern Architectural Education in China. He trained a large number of architectural talents for the country, and can be called a great master in the history of modern architecture.
