Historical evolution

The period of National Southwest United University

Yunnan Normal University was born in 1938, formerly known as the National Southwest United University (Normal University).

In 1946, Peking University, Tsinghua University and Nankai University, which formed the UN General Assembly, were demobilized and returned to the north. Yunnan Normal University was established independently in Kunming and named national Kunming Normal University.

The period of Kunming Normal University

In 1950, the national Kunming Normal University was renamed Kunming Normal University.

In 1953, Kunming Normal University (part of Geography) was merged into Guiyang Normal University (now Guizhou Normal University).

In 1953, Kunming Normal University (Physics, history, geography, education and other professional parts) was merged into southwest Normal University (now Southwest University).

In 1954, Kunming Normal University (mineral geology major) participated in the merger to form Kunming Institute of Technology (Kunming University of science and Technology).

In 1959, Kunming Normal University (Art Department) was transformed into Yunnan art college.

In 1965, Kunming Normal University (part of Geography) was incorporated into Yunnan University.

In 1965, Kunming Normal University (Biology) was merged into Kunming agriculture and Forestry University (now Yunnan Agricultural University).

In 1962, Yunnan Institute of physical education, Yunnan Institute of art, South Yunnan University (major in Chinese Mathematical Physical Chemistry) and West Yunnan University (major in Chinese Mathematical Physical Chemistry) were merged into Kunming Normal University.

The period of Yunnan Normal University

In 1984, it was renamed Yunnan Normal University.

In 1999, Yunnan Normal University merged with Yunnan Institute of education, Yunnan education cadre training center (joint office) and Yunnan Institute of physical education to reorganize the new Yunnan Normal University.

In 2012, it was established as one of the 100 key high-level universities in central and Western China.

In May 2012, it was rated as a national university with typical employment experience by the Ministry of education.

In 2013, it became a University jointly built by the Ministry of education and Yunnan Provincial People's government.

On December 23, 2014, he Jinping, director of Yunnan Provincial Department of education, issued the approval letter (No. 3) for the constitution of colleges and universities of Yunnan Provincial Department of education to formally approve the constitution of Yunnan Normal University.

On October 27, 2017, the martial arts college of Yunnan Normal University was officially established in Chenggong campus of Yunnan Normal University.
