It is said that the original owner of the house was Wang Xingyu, and later became the private house of Chen Zhongfan, Dean of the school of Arts of Jinling University. He Yingqin once went to the golden prime minister and ordered people to buy it at a high price, while Mr. Chen looked for another place to live.
Architectural features
He mansion is a typical Spanish style villa. It originally covers an area of nearly 10 mu, with 2 western style buildings, 1 2-storey building, 1 3-storey building, and 2 bungalows. At present, there is only one main building with three floors left. There are five parallel arches on the front, followed by a porch. There are three arches on one side of the porch, followed by a porch. The whole building is exquisitely conceived, with bright Beige on the outside and traditional Chinese tile blue glazed tiles on the top. The appearance is simple and generous. The glass roof and tower are arranged at random. Cedar trees and flowers are widely planted around the residence, and grass is green in the middle. Today, the seven cedars in front of the gate are said to have been planted by the same family. Now, the building is a foreign affairs office room of Nanjing University, which is specially used to receive distinguished guests and is in good condition.
Historical evolution
He Yingqin residence was built in 1934. It was designed by Shen Hefu and constructed by xinfengji construction factory. It was destroyed by war during the Anti Japanese war. At the end of 1945. He Yingqin rebuilt it at the original site in the name of his wife Wang Wenxiang, which was completed in March 1946. The residence covers an area of 9.5820 mu, about 6388 square meters, with a two-story western style building, a three-story western style building and two bungalows, a total of four buildings and 31 rooms.
On November 16, 1948, he Yingqin's daughter, he Lizhu, rented most of the rooms in the residence to the U.S. embassy from January 1 to June 30, 1949. After the liberation of Nanjing, he Yingqin's residence was taken over by the people's government.
In early 1959, due to the expansion of Nanjing University, the wall of he mansion was demolished. In January 1961, Nanjing University successively demolished a two-story building and a bungalow in the southwest of the residence in order to build a physics building. Therefore, there is only one building and one bungalow left in he Yingqin residence.
