Qinhuai River boat
Qinhuai River, located in the southwest of Jiangsu Province, is a tributary of the lower reaches of the Yangtze River, with a total length of about 110 km and a total drainage area of 2630 square kilometers. It is the main channel in Nanjing. The outer Qinhuai River, which was cut off 1000 years ago, serves as a barrier to the South and west of the ancient city of Nanjing, and now becomes a river in the city. The outer Qinhuai River passes through Tongji gate, Zhonghua Gate, East, South and west of Nancheng, passes through Zhonghua Gate, Hanzhong Gate, caochang gate and dinghuai gate, and flows northward through shitoucheng to Sancha River and into Yangtze River.
According to the literature, the Qinhuai River was once called "Xiaojiang", which should be relative to the Yangtze River. During the period of the Three Kingdoms, Sun Quan once said to Liu Bei, "moling has a small river of more than 100 Li, which can be used to build big ships. Our side is in charge of the water army, so we should move it." The "Xiaojiang" here refers to the Qinhuai River. Huaishui is a general term from Han Dynasty to Sui Dynasty. It was not until the Tang Dynasty that it was called the "Qinhuai River". According to legend, when the first emperor of Qin was on a tour to the East, he saw the purple air rising over Jinling and thought that it was the king's air. He ordered that LIANGANG be cut off in the southeast mountain area of today's Nanjing City, leading the dragon to the north of Pubei and into the Yangtze River. Therefore, it was called the "Qinhuai River".

Zhonghuamen Castle
Zhonghuamen castle is also called Wengcheng, sifangcheng, Yuecheng and Quchi. Located at the south end of Zhonghua Road in Nanjing, it is the South Gate of Nanjing city. The castle is 21.5 meters high, 118.5 meters wide from east to west, 129 meters deep and covers an area of 16500 square meters. There are four gates, and the open space between them is called Wengcheng. In addition to the wooden gate which is tightly wrapped with iron sheet, there are stone grooves on both sides of the gate. There is a Qianjin gate embedded in the stone groove. In wartime, if the wooden gate is broken by the enemy, the Qianjin gate can be put down from the city to prevent the enemy from advancing or retreating. There are also 27 hiding holes in the castle, which can ambush more than 3000 soldiers to deal with the enemy trapped in the urn. Although the Qianjin gate has been destroyed, the mechanism principle of the design can still be seen from the stone trough on the city. The whole castle is ingeniously conceived and well built, which fully reflects the wisdom and skills of ancient craftsmen in China. It is a precious object for studying the history of city wall construction, capital city and ancient war. The above three words "Zhonghuamen" were written by the leader of the Kuomintang, Mr. Chiang Kai Shek.
