The total area of shibadong village is 14162 mu, with 817 mu of cultivated land. The per capita cultivated land of the village is only 0.83 mu, and the forest area is 11093 mu, with the forest coverage rate of 78%.

The village governs 4 natural villages, 6 villager groups, 225 households and 939 people, belonging to the pure Miao community.

geographical environment

Shibadong village is located in the southwest of paibi Township, which is known as the "South Gate" of Huayuan. It is close to Jicha highway, national highway 209 and 319. It is 34 kilometers away from the county, 38 kilometers away from the state capital, 8 kilometers away from Aizhai bridge and 5 kilometers away from the exit of the highway. The village is located in the alpine mountainous area, with long winter and short summer. It is a high mountain rock area, about 700 meters above sea level, and has a beautiful ecological environment.

Huayuan County in Western Hunan, where shibadong village is located, is located in subtropical monsoon climate (accurate as: Continental mid subtropical monsoon humid climate). Hunan has four distinct seasons in a year. The average temperature in January is the lowest, with the extreme low temperature of - 8 ℃; the temperature in July is the highest, with the general extreme temperature of 40 ℃; the rainfall is concentrated from May to July, with an average annual rainfall of 1350-1450 mm.

Liantai mountain forest farm, huangmayan, Wulong yixiantian, Beier mountain, Optimus Prime and other scenic spots, especially the eighteen caves, are connected with each other. The caves have unique landscapes and different expressions. They are known as "the first grotesque cave in Asia", and the eighteen caves village also gets its name. In the area, there are waterfalls, withered vines and old trees, birds singing and flowers fragrant, mountains and canyons echoing in the distance, Miao A-Mei's singing echoed in the valley, there is a distant view of the cold mountain stone path, and there is a fairyland in the depth of white clouds.

History and culture

The village has profound Miao culture, unique Miao diet, rich Miao customs, and well preserved Miao original ecological culture. During the Spring Festival, there are traditional customs such as lion snatching, dragon catching and Miao drum beating; during the autumn festival, there are activities such as watermelon festival, dragon dance, climbing the knife ladder, vertebral cattle and singing Miao songs. The village has Miao embroidery, batik, flower belt, ancient flower silk weaving and other cultural tourism products. There are 18 holes of bacon, sour fish, sour meat, wild vegetables and other green food; there are Miao's unique skills such as climbing the ladder, stepping on the Hua Kou, badai and Dingji; there are national cultural activities such as "Celebrating the Miao New Year", "catching up with the Autumn Festival" and "folk songs to convey feelings".

In November 3, 2013, general secretary Xi Jinping visited the eighteen hole village for the first time. He put forward the "precision poverty alleviation" for the first time, and made the important instructions of "seeking truth from facts, adjusting measures to local conditions, classifying guidance, and accurately helping the poor". After more than two years, shibadong village has been paved with asphalt roads, repaired tourist paths and guardrails, renovated its houses, lifted 265 people out of poverty, and began to take on a new look.

In 2013, the per capita net income was only 1668 yuan.

Shibadong village mainly grows rice and tobacco. Flue cured tobacco has grown from more than 100 mu in 2013 to 318 mu in 2016; kiwifruit has developed nearly 1000 mu; relying on miaohanzi cooperative in Huayuan County, 110 mu of wild vegetables have been developed in the form of "company + farmer + base", with 41 mu of planting area implemented; 10 winter peach plants have been planted in front of and behind each house of 225 villagers.

Jumping out of the village to develop kiwi fruit industry is a vivid practice of the innovative poverty alleviation model of shibadong village. With the new mode of joint-stock cooperative poverty alleviation, 1000 mu of kiwifruit industry will be developed, of which 100 mu of land will be transferred in shibadong village to build a high-quality kiwifruit demonstration base; 900 mu of land will be transferred in Huayuan County modern agricultural science and technology demonstration park in Daoer township to build a kiwifruit radiation base in shibadong village, and farmers will benefit from shares. At the same time, we should develop an industry, cultivate a professional cooperative and drive farmers.

Nowadays, some of the villagers in shibadong village have started Miao embroidery business, some have started characteristic breeding industry, and some have started rural tourism. In 2019, the per capita annual income of shibadong village reached 14668 yuan, and the collective economic income of the village exceeded 1 million yuan.

social undertakings

In 2014, we will realize the connection of radio and television to every household, excavate and carry forward the Miao culture, maintain and transform Zhuzhu primary school and paigumei primary school, implement village primary school grading and class division teaching, establish and improve the School District teacher exchange mechanism, and prevent the next generation from losing at the starting line. In addition, two village clinics have been built.

In May 2014, eighteen holes Miao embroidery training base was established. In July 2015, the base was determined as the "central new vocational farmers training base" by the Central Agricultural Radio and Television School and the farmers science and technology education and training center of the Ministry of agriculture.

On January 9, 2020, Sinopec Hunan Xiangxi petroleum 18 hole gas station and Fenghuang ancient city Yijie convenience store opened. They used their own brand and channel advantages to promote the sales of local characteristic products, help the development of poverty alleviation industry and tourism industry in Xiangxi, and contribute the strength of central enterprises to win the battle of poverty alleviation

In November 2017, it won the top 300 village influence ranking in 2017.

On December 26, 2017, shibadong village was rated as the fifth national demonstration area (unit) for national unity and progress by the National People's commission.

On October 8, 2018, after local recommendation and expert review, the Ministry of agriculture and rural areas plans to promote shibadong village as a beautiful leisure village in China in 2018.

In November 2018, it won the honorary title of "2018 National Ecological Culture Village" of China Ecological Culture Association.

On July 28, 2019, it was selected into the list of the first batch of key Rural Tourism Villages in China.

On December 25, 2019, it will be included in the first batch of National Forest Village list.

On December 31, 2019, it will be included in the list of national rural governance demonstration villages.

In May 2020, it will be selected as "2020 China's top 100 summer health care golden land".
