Historical evolution
Wu's courtyard is the burial protection place of houmuwu Ding. It is famous for being used as the burial protection place of houmuwu Ding during the Anti Japanese War (1939-1946). Wu's courtyard has a history of more than 400 years. Its architectural form is traditional Chinese brick and tile wooden structure, with three entrances and nine doors. The courtyard is 30 meters wide from east to west and 100 meters wide from north to south, with a total area of about 3000 square meters. In the spring of 1939, the Wu family discovered the Si Mu Wu Ding in wujiabai forest in the northwest of Wuguan village. In order to avoid being robbed by Japanese invaders and bandits, Wu Peiwen excavated the Hou Mu Wu Ding in the morning of March 19, 1939. Because Xiao Yinqing, a big antique dealer, demanded to smash it, it was not sold and buried in the book burning pit of the Wu family compound. Later, because of the traitor's information, the Japanese army searched the Wu's compound for many times. Wu Peiwen used the Chinese national backbone and wisdom to transfer the tripod to Westinghouse stable and Dongwu forage room in the Wu's compound three times. The stepmother Wu Ding was buried in the Dongwu of the Wu's compound and protected for eight years, avoiding the plunder of the Japanese and safeguarding the national dignity. In 1946, the 31th army of the national government excavated the tripod, which was transported to Nanjing as Chiang Kai Shek's birthday gift and stored in the Preparatory Office of the former Central Museum. In 1959, the tripod was transported to Beijing and placed in the National Museum of China.
The special historical background of the Wu family compound endows it with important historical value. On June 21, 2006, it was announced as the fourth batch of provincial-level cultural relics protection units in Henan Province as a patriotic education base.
On March 19 every year, a commemorative activity of "the excavation of stepmother Wu Ding" will be held in Wu's courtyard. March 19 has developed into an important local activity in Anyang.
Wu's courtyard is the shooting site of CCTV's hit drama "I owe you a hug in this life" and the 60th anniversary gift film of national day.
