The boundless plain of Shishou Dongyue Temple is situated on the Bank of the world's famous water and nine sad and depressed feeling, the Yangtze River Wonderland, the Shishou river bank. It lies on the top of the mountain of Jingjiang mountain, Xiufeng Dongyue mountain.

Historical evolution

Initial construction

At the beginning of the era, Buddhism was introduced to Shishou. In 759 ad, Dongyue Temple was built on the top of Dongyue mountain. In the Ming and Qing Dynasties, the Buddhist monks doubled, the incense was more prosperous, and the architecture was more magnificent. It became an important Taoist temple in the area of the combination of the two lake plains. Later, it was destroyed by war. Dongyue Temple is a place of mountains, mountains and water, where people and culture gather. Liu Bei, the leader of Shu, once held a wedding ceremony here. Ge Hong, the medicine immortal of Jin Dynasty, made jade and alchemy here. Du Fu, the poet of Tang Dynasty, berthed his boat early here. Huang Tingjian, the literary giant of Song Dynasty, wrote a plaque of poems and books here. Yuan Zhongdao, the literary star of Ming Dynasty, wrote about mountains and rivers here. Modern writer Biye mountaineering wrote an article. Yan Jici, a master of science and technology, wrote a book about Dongyue Temple in Shishou It has a long history, according to historical records: inscriptions; literary magnate Cao Yu dedicated his calligraphy here. From the view of Dongyue Temple, you can also see the beautiful natural landscape of Shishou modern city blending with the broad fields of the Yangtze River, the same color of water and sky, the river gulls dyed by the glow, the reed flowers flying on the beach, and hundreds of Geers competing for the upper reaches.

Renovation and reconstruction

Since the restoration of Dongyue Temple in 1995, temples have been built one after another. Dongyue Temple stretches thousands of meters from south to North according to Dongyue mountain. The construction of the temple is in the ascendant. Tianwang hall, Daxiong hall, Guanyin Pavilion, nianfo hall, Dongyue Temple Vegetarian House, Yanshou building, Haihui building, Zhaitang and monk's house have their own characteristics. The statue of Buddha is solemn and quiet, the pagoda, the furnace, the tripod and the clouds are misty; there are many kinds of vegetables in the vegetarian restaurant, which are full of color, fragrance and delicacy; the morning bell and evening drum attract the crowd, the Pilgrims and tourists come in an endless stream, and the Buddhist activities are in good order.
