E'gongyan bridge is a river crossing channel connecting Jiulongpo District and Nan'an District in Chongqing City, China. It is located on the Yangtze River. It is a gate type double pylon suspension bridge and a part of the East-West fast trunk road in the main urban area of Chongqing city.

Egongyan bridge was started on December 27, 1997 and opened to traffic on December 27, 2000.

Egongyan bridge starts from Egongyan interchange in Jiulongpo District in the West and ends at ZHAOJIABA interchange in Nan'an District in the East, with a total length of 1.42km; the bridge deck is arranged with two-way 8 lanes and the designed maximum speed is 80km / h; the total investment estimate of the project is 1.41 billion yuan.

Historical evolution

On December 27, 1997, Egongyan bridge began construction.

At the end of October 1999, Egongyan bridge began to erect large cable strands.

At the beginning of March 2000, the steel box girder of the bridge was hoisted and completed in early August. On December 27 of the same year, Egongyan bridge was completed and opened to traffic.

On March 30, 2012, the suspension cable of Egongyan bridge was repaired by coloring.

In August 2013, Egongyan bridge started Widening Reconstruction and bridge deck overhaul project: the sidewalk was canceled, the two-way six lane bridge deck was widened into two-way eight lane bridge deck, and the function of pedestrian channel was transferred to Egongyan rail bridge. In December of the same year, the project was completed.

Bridge location

Egongyan bridge project starts from chenjiaping, the terminal point of Chengdu Chongqing Expressway, passes Dagongguan, Xiejiawan and Egongyan bridge, and ends at Nan'an District for four kilometers, connecting with Strait road.

The main bridge starts from Egongyan interchange in Jiulongpo District in the West and ends at ZHAOJIABA interchange in Nan'an District in the East.

Architectural design

The total investment of the bridge is estimated to be 1.41 billion yuan, with a total length of 7.27 km, of which the main bridge is 1.42 km long, the main bridge is 1.022 km long, and the main span is 0.6 km. The bridge is a double pylon suspension bridge with a portal type, and the main tower is 163.9 meters high. The towering portal twin towers have become another landscape of Chongqing. The bridge deck is designed as two-way six lane and two-way track of urban expressway, with a width of 35.5m, a designed driving speed of 80km / h and a daily traffic capacity of 72000 vehicles. After that, the track line and pedestrian function are cancelled, and the two-way eight lane is reconstructed and widened.

The bridge is a city bridge, is a three span continuous steel box girder suspension bridge, span layout 211 + 600 + 211 meters. The bridge deck is a flat steel box girder with a width of 35.5m and a height of 3M. Instead of vertical support under the cable tower, special sling is set near the tower. A viscous damper is set on the side pier to control the horizontal movement distance of the stiffening beam. The bridge site is interbedded with mudstone and sandstone, with gravity anchorage on the West Bank and tunnel anchorage on the east bank.

The concrete consumption is 10400 cubic meters, the steel consumption is 33200 tons, and the main bridge cost is 600 million yuan.

Fare system

Since July 1, 2002, Chongqing Municipality has promulgated the administrative measures for the collection of road and bridge tolls in the main urban area of Chongqing Municipality, and started to implement the system of annual and sub tolls for road and bridge tolls. Roads, bridges and tunnels in the main urban area are included in the scope of annual and sub tolls for road and bridge tolls, and the one-stop parking charge for one bridge is cancelled. The motor vehicles registered in the main urban area of Chongqing, or the motor vehicles whose owner's residence is in the main urban area, shall pay the annual road and Bridge toll at one time according to the regulations.

 

On November 23, 2017, Chongqing Municipal People's government issued a notice that the toll of roads and bridges in the main urban area will be cancelled from 0:00 on January 1, 2018, including Egongyan bridge.

 

Construction achievements

Technical problems

1. For the first time in China, the new technology of construction cableway traction is adopted for the erection of the main cable strand of the bridge, which has created a record of no broken or broken wire in the erection of the main cable in China.

2. Due to the characteristics of large variation of river water level and disordered water flow, the bridge has created the world's first aerial ropeway to lift and install steel box girder and its new construction control technology.

3. The new technology of tunnel anchorage without teeth and anchor piles on the soft rock of sandstone and mudstone interbedding.

4. The 200t damping device has been developed and successfully used in the bridge to improve the dynamic performance of the suspension bridge.

5. The hybrid sling system of hot cast anchor and cold cast anchor is adopted.

6. The new technology of cutting without allowance and assembling without horse is adopted in the manufacturing process of steel box.

 

Honorary recognition

The bridge has successively won the Shanghai Science and technology progress award, the first prize of excellent engineering design of Shanghai Municipality and Ministry of construction, and the National Gold Award of excellent engineering design.
