Karaxianger seismic fault zone
Kalashenger earthquake fault zone is the relic of the M 8 earthquake occurred at 05:18:47 on August 11, 1931. It is located 30 km southeast of Fuyun county. It is also called KEKETUOHAI ertai earthquake fault zone.
The total length of the fault zone is 176 km, the general width is 10 m, and the maximum width is 4 km in the epicentral area, especially in the epicentral area, that is, karaschengel, where there is a huge depression slope with a length of 1.5 km, a width of 350 m, and a slide of 63 m. There are many cracks in the top of the mountain and bedrock on the ground, with a maximum width of 6 m and a depth of 10 m. According to an old man who had experienced the earthquake, the deepest impact on him was that the earthquake was violent and lasted a long time, not to mention walking. He tried to get up several times, but fell to the ground by the strong earthquake. Fortunately, at that time, this area was sparsely populated, and almost all herdsmen lived in yurts. Therefore, although it was one of the top ten earthquakes in the world, the death toll was only about 500. It's thrilling and haunting to be on the scene.
Fuyun earthquake fault zone is one of the rare earthquake fault zones in the world. It is also the most typical and well preserved earthquake relic in the world. It is known as the "earthquake museum". The national earthquake annual meeting has been held here many times. At the same time, most earthquakes with magnitude 6 or above in China have to be compared here. It is of great scientific significance for the study of earthquake fault, regional tectonic environment, stress field, power source and the changes of topography, geomorphology, vegetation and hydrology caused by earthquake. It is of great scientific value for experts and scholars, and of sightseeing, sightseeing and popular science value for ordinary tourists.
