Hubei Zhuxi Longhu National Wetland Park is located in Longba Town, 7km west of Zhuxi County, in the upper reaches of Zhuxi River. Its main body is zhuxihe reservoir. The reservoir area has a rainfall bearing area of 120 square kilometers and a total reservoir capacity of 23.48 million cubic meters. It is the only water supply source in the urban area of Zhuxi County, and undertakes the heavy tasks of water supply for 150000 people in the urban area, flood control in the county and irrigation of 20000 mu farmland in the downstream of the reservoir area.

Resources

There are 870 species of vascular plants belonging to 447 genera of 139 families and 237 species of vertebrates belonging to 80 families of 28 orders in the Wetland Park, including Golden Eagle and mandarin duck, which are the national key protected birds.

Development and construction

Longhu, the full name of "Hubei Zhuxi Longhu National Wetland Park", was awarded the National Wetland Park in 2014. Zhuxihe reservoir started construction in 1958, stopped construction in 1960, continued construction in 1968, completed water storage and put into operation in 1971. The reservoir area has a rainfall bearing area of 120 square kilometers and a total capacity of 23.48 million cubic meters. It undertakes the heavy responsibilities of water supply for 100000 people in the urban area of the county, flood control for the county and irrigation for 20000 mu of farmland in the downstream of the reservoir area. It supplies more than 9 million cubic meters of water to the county every year, which is the life Bank of Zhuxi County.

According to the "master plan of Hubei Zhuxi Longhu National Wetland Park" compiled by the forestry industry planning and Design Institute of the State Forestry Administration in 2012, Longhu will build a typical project to protect and restore the wetland ecosystem, wetland science popularization experience site, wetland eco-tourism scenic spot and humanistic Wetland Park. Tourist center, 10 km cycling Lane around the lake, parking lot and other leisure service facilities have been built.
