White Cloud Mountain
Baiyun Mountain, located in Baiyun District, Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province, is one of the famous mountains in southern Guangdong Province. It has been known as "the first show in Yangcheng" since ancient times. The mountain is quite broad, composed of more than 30 peaks, which is the branch of Jiulian Mountain, the highest peak in Guangdong. Covering an area of 20.98 square kilometers, the main peak of the mountain is 382 meters high.
Baiyun Mountain is the first national AAAAA scenic spot in the scenic spot industry of Guangzhou, and also the only scenic spot in Guangzhou with two honors of national civilized scenic spot and national AAAAA scenic spot.
Historical evolution
Baiyun Mountain has a strong cultural precipitation, which can be traced back to the Neolithic prehistoric culture site of Huangpo cave in Shanbei. At the end of Qin Dynasty, Gao Shi Zheng an lived in seclusion in Baiyun Mountain to collect medicine and help the world
Ge Hong, a man of Jin Dynasty, once worked in Baiyun Mountain for alchemy and wrote baopuzi, a famous Taoist work.
In Nanliang period, Zen master Jingtai came here to build a temple. It was the earliest temple in Baiyun Mountain. It also left a scene of "Jingtai monk's return", one of the eight old scenes in Yangcheng.
After the Tang and Song Dynasties, some scholars, such as Du Shenyan, Li qunyu, Su Shi and Han Yu, began to climb mountains and recite poems. Their poems are full of emotion and become valuable historical and spiritual wealth of Lingnan.
Baiyun Mountain accounts for the third of the eight sceneries of Yangcheng in the Ming and Qing Dynasties: "Pu Jian Lian Quan, Jingtai Seng GUI, Baiyun Wan Wang". In the late Qing Dynasty, there were baiyun temple, Shuangxi temple, Nengren temple, Maitreya Temple and other ancient temples, as well as Baishan fairy hall, pearl, baihuazhong and other places of interest.
The anti French and Sino Japanese War of modern Chinese revolution also left footprints here.
In October 1938, the Japanese invaded and Guangzhou fell. The cultural relics, historic sites, hills and trees of Baiyun Mountain were all destroyed.
By the time of liberation, only the memorial archway of "the first peak in the south of heaven" and the ruins of some temples were left.
Landscape features
After liberation, the people's Government of Guangzhou organized the masses to plant trees extensively, built 10 reservoirs, opened up roads to connect the north and the south, built Shanbei, Peak Park, villa and Shuangxi Hostel, and reproduced the lush and vigorous landscape of Baiyun Mountain.
After liberation, it was under the jurisdiction of Forestry Department of National Sun Yat sen University.
In 1958, with the approval of Guangzhou Municipal People's government, Guangzhou Baiyunshan construction management office was established, which is under the jurisdiction of Guangzhou Municipal Bureau of landscape architecture.
After 1958, the Peak Park and Beishan park were opened up, pavilions and pavilions were built, and hotels such as Shanzhuang Hotel, Shuangxi villa and Songtao courtyard were also built. Huangpodong reservoir, mingzhulou reservoir, dajinzhong reservoir, Luhu Park, Guangzhou Beilin, Yuntai garden, mingquanju Resort and other scenic spots have been developed.
After the construction of successive Guangzhou municipal governments, Baiyunshan Scenic Area Administration Bureau was established.
In the early stage of socialist construction, the older generation of revolutionaries Zhu De, Dong Biwu and Guo Moruo left inscriptions. Premier Zhou Enlai and vice premier Chen Yi once carried out state affairs activities in Baiyunshan Villa Hostel, which was known as "Diaoyutai in the South".

In the 1960s and 1980s, Baiyun Mountain was rated as one of the "new eight sights of Yangcheng" twice for its "Baiyun Songtao" and "Yunshan Jinxiu".

In October 1989, China's largest natural bird cage was built in Mingchun Valley on the top of the mountain, covering an area of 12500 square meters.
In 1992, the people's Government of Guangzhou invested in the construction of the stele forest in Guangzhou, which was opened to the outside world in 1994.
On January 22, 1996, with the approval of Guangzhou Municipal Organization Committee, Guangzhou Baiyunshan Scenic Area Administration Bureau was established, which is under the jurisdiction of Guangzhou Municipal Administration Bureau and Guangzhou landscape Bureau.
In the reform of Guangzhou municipal organs in 2001, Guangzhou Municipal Organization Committee once again made it clear that the Administration Bureau of Baiyunshan Scenic Area is a public institution at the deputy bureau level, which is managed by the Municipal Bureau of landscape architecture and is responsible for the management and administrative law enforcement of Baiyunshan Scenic Area. There are seven functional departments in the administration, including the office, the forest greening department, the planning and construction department, the tourism business department, the planning and finance department, the security department, the Armed Forces Department (joint office), and the political department (Joint Office of the Commission for Discipline Inspection, the supervision office, and their offices).
In May 1996, Guangzhou Municipal Planning Bureau organized the preparation of the master plan of Baiyunshan Scenic Area in Guangzhou, which passed the examination of Guangdong Provincial People's Government in February 2006 and was approved by the State Council in October 2009.
