Now there are dongyangcheng site and Beigang Han tomb group site in Beigang. There are quite a number of Han Tombs in Dayun mountain and Xiaoyun mountain.
Overview of the ancient city
Xuyi Dongyang City is a well preserved ancient city site. It is built with earthen walls. The inner and outer cities are connected from east to west, with a total area of 15 square kilometers. It was first built in the Qin Dynasty and extended in the Han Dynasty. The city is slightly square, due south to north, and is composed of East and West cities. The east city is relatively complete. The east wall is 838 meters long and the south wall is 933 meters long, covering an area of 771854 square meters. The south wall of the west city is 862 meters long, and the east wall is partially incomplete, 838 meters long, covering an area of 722356 square meters. The total area of the two cities is about 1.5 square kilometers. The wall is 20 meters wide and 3 to 5 meters high, all of which are made of layered rammed loess. Abundant relics of the Qin and Han dynasties have been unearthed in the city, including bronze coins, half Liang coins, five baht coins, patterned square bricks, cirrus pattern, animal face pattern tiles, board tiles and a large number of pottery utensils, reflecting the prosperity of the city at that time. Around the city site, there are many cemeteries of the same period, which are very dense. Among them, only a few woodblock reliefs unearthed from tomb No. 7 were found in Dongyang, Xuyi, Jiangsu, and Huchang, Hanjiang.
History and culture
During the spring and Autumn period and the Warring States period, it was an important ancient town that ran through the traffic between the north and the south. It was the seat of Dongyang County in the Qin and Han Dynasties. It was once granted the Marquis state by Liu Bang, the emperor of the Han Dynasty, and its economy and culture were prosperous. Dongyangcheng ancient tombs are located in the southeast of the site, covering an area of 300000-400000 square meters. There are thousands of ancient tombs. Because of the thick burial custom in the Han Dynasty, there are abundant underground cultural relics. Since the 1970s, a large number of cultural relics with high historical, artistic and scientific value have been unearthed here. Among them, the Western Han Dynasty woodcut star map unearthed in 1974 is 110 years earlier than the world recognized earliest Yale Salem comet map.
Ancient tombs in dayunshan
In 58, someone dug an ancient tomb at the foot of Dayun mountain, in which a female corpse was dressed in silk and forged clothes in good condition. Due to improper disposal, it was later weathered. From the 1960s to the 1970s, the development of Han Tombs was constantly on the upsurge near the Dongyang City site. Under the specific guidance of Nanjing Museum, more than 100 ancient tombs have been excavated. Most of the coffins unearthed are nanmu, which contains many ancient pottery, bronze, iron, jade and silver. The world's most rare star woodcut, the comet map, is also in it. But the inside of the coffin is empty, a kind of funerary object, and the identity of the real owner has always been a mystery. This historic Dongyang City foreshadows future grave robbers. It's a tomb raider's paradise.
In 2009, the local people, together with a group of 14 grave robbers from Henan Province, focused on Dayun mountain. They jointly purchased explosives and tools for tomb robbing and dug at night. When they entered the tomb, four people died suddenly. Some people said that this was the manifestation of immortals. There was a surge of wind and clouds in Dayun mountain immediately. With many doubts, people went into Dayun mountain. The quarrying team could open the mountain and shoot guns at will in other mountain sections. But around Xianren cave and the pool, they consciously became a forbidden area. Since then, our archaeological team has opened the prelude to the investigation and development of the Han Tombs in dayunshan.
Royal Cemetery
On the top of Dayun mountain, there are many rocks. Except for Xianren cave and piaoer well, there are no other traces. It is impossible to imagine the burial of Han Tombs on the top of the mountain. For years, people could only look for targets around it. However, something unexpected finally happened. At the top of Dayun mountain, archaeologists found a 250000 square meter Royal Cemetery in the early Western Han Dynasty. There is a little-known Han tomb under the immortal cave and Yinma pool. There are as many as 13 tombs of various kinds. There are a lot of jade clothes in the coffin, some of which are well preserved. Development work is continuing. The identity of the tomb owner is not clear. I firmly believe that over time, the series of question marks we have will be relieved by archaeologists. It will further unveil the mystery of Dayun mountain.
The discovery of the ancient tomb in dayunshan has shocked the archaeological community, and we will have a new understanding of the history Expo.
There is a pond on the top of Dayun mountain, which is called "dragon pond" by local people. Just tens of meters below the dragon pond is buried an important ancient figure. After nearly 10 months of archaeological exploration and excavation, the Institute of Archaeology of Nanjing Museum has made major archaeological discoveries. It turns out that this is a very spectacular cemetery style Western Han Dynasty tomb group at the rank of princes and kings. Three large tombs, two weapon pits, one chariot and horse pit, and 13 accompanying tombs of various grades were found in the cemetery
Historical records
The Chu family in historical records
In the southeast of Xuyi county, there is the ancient Dongyang City. In the spring and Autumn period, Dongyang, known as "Beiliang", was a border town of the state of Wu, bordering on the clock of the state of Chu. Wu and Chu once attacked each other because of their children's "struggle for mulberry", which led to Chu's "moving capital to Ying". In history, such incidents as big wars caused by small things are called "Beiliang weijiao". (the Chu family in historical records)
Records of the historian
Qin set up Dongyang county and built a "qucheng" (Earth City) here. Around 7 Li, East and West about 2 li, North and south about 1.5 Li, a total area of 1.5 square kilometers. At that time, there was a magistrate in Dongyang named Chen Ying. He is generous and respectful. He is known as the "elder" for his reputation in the local area. In the wave of uprising in the late Qin Dynasty, the people of Dongyang also rose up, killed the county magistrate and promoted Chen Yao as the leader. Chen Ying couldn't refuse, so he had to take his place. The uprising soon gathered more than 20000 people, and they planned to make Chen Ying king. When Chen Ying's mother learned about this, she said to her son, "you don't have any special contribution, but you suddenly call yourself Wang. It won't bring good results. It's better to be a follower. If you succeed, you can be a marquis. If you fail, you won't be killed or scolded. " Chen Ying obeyed his mother's orders and did not dare to be king without authorization. He said to the military officials, "Xiang is a famous general from generation to generation and is very famous in the state of Chu. If you want to do great things and destroy the violent Qin Dynasty, you have to take refuge in him. " The uprising masses listened to him. Soon after Xiang Liang's team passed through Dongyang, Chen Ying led the people to join him and became an important force in the uprising army. Chen Ying later became the Shangzhu state of the "King Huai of Chu" and was responsible for guarding the capital xutai (now Xuyi). (records of the historian Xiang Yu)
A few days ago, the Han tomb in dayunshan, Dongyang, Xuyi county, which is being excavated, has attracted worldwide attention. The unearthed cultural relics show that they are the first class tombs of princes in the early Western Han Dynasty. According to the first information released by Nanbo experts, the tomb owners may be Liu Jia, king of Jing, Liu Bi, king of Wu, Liu Xi, king of Dai, Liu Fei, king of Jiangdu, and Chen Ying, Hou of Tangyi. Jiao in the idiom "Jinwucangjiao" refers to Chen Ajiao, the daughter of the third generation of Tangyi Marquis and the first empress of Emperor Wu of Han Dynasty.
In today's ancient Dongyang City, there are also some ruins of tuchengyuan during the Warring States period. The East and West cities are juxtaposed, and their shape is rare.
