Introduction
At the same time, it was also the place of the appalling "mashishan Massacre" made by the Japanese Army during the Anti Japanese war. Rushan municipal government built a martyr cemetery on the main peak of mashishan, which became an important patriotic education base. It is said that in ancient times, there was a pasture in mashishan with rich grass and beautiful water. A god horse in the sky often secretly went to the pasture to eat grass and drink water. Later, a God came down from the sky to subdue the god horse. The god horse rolled on the spot and was even higher than the mountain. The day will see, also exert mana, become a giant. He reached for the horse's mane, took the mountain as a stepping stone and flew away.
From then on, people called this mountain "shangmashi mountain". Later, the word "Shang" was gradually removed and called "Mashi mountain".
On November 24, 1942, the Japanese aggressor army "swept up" and slaughtered more than 500 Anti Japanese soldiers and civilians here, creating a "mashishan Massacre" that shocked China and foreign countries. In the struggle against mopping up, the Anti Japanese army and people in Jiaodong fought to the death with the Japanese invading army.
In October 1970, Rushan County Revolutionary Committee built the mashishan martyrs cemetery in memory of the Anti Japanese soldiers and civilians who died in the mashishan massacre. Covering an area of 54000 square meters, the cemetery is divided into four parts: revolutionary martyrs memorial tower, revolutionary martyrs memorial hall, martyrs tomb, reception room and management living area.
