Eling temple is an ancient temple with a history of more than one thousand years in the southeast of Licheng Town, Lipu city. It has been thriving and declining for a long time, and it is still fragrant. Founded in the Tang Dynasty, it is one of the eight ancient scenic spots in Lipu City, which is called "goose plume should be prayed". It is a holy land of Buddhist culture and a key cultural relic to be protected.

Eling temple is located 2 kilometers south of Lipu city. The temple is surrounded by mountains, surrounded by water, with deep caves and beautiful scenery. It is the most famous scenic spot in the city.

history

Goose Ling Zen has a long history. It was founded in the Tang Dynasty. Liu Yuxi, a great poet of the Tang Dynasty, said, "mountains are not high, immortals are famous, water is not deep, dragons are spirit.". According to the annals of Lipu County in the third year of the Republic of China, in the summer of the 32nd year of Shaoxing in the Song Dynasty, there was a long drought and no rain, so some people went to eling temple to ask for rain. Sure enough, Bodhisattvas responded well. At that time, it was the red sun that was burning. After the dream of incense, the sky was full of thunder, and a heavy rain poured down all over the county. Results zaozao had a good harvest. "Goose plume should be prayed" has been spread to this day. It is also recorded in the county annals that master Huineng, the sixth patriarch of Zen Buddhism in the Tang Dynasty, came to Lipu County to pass on the Scriptures for many years. Because of this Buddhist root and the spread of the story of praying for goose plume, goose plume Temple became famous. Since ancient times, eling temple has always been famous for its elegant scenery and the spirit of all Buddhas. How many famous people come here for sightseeing, and how many good men and women come from all directions to worship Buddhism.

After the 1970s, after several years of construction, the eling temple has now taken on a new look. It is a magnificent and beautiful Buddhist temple. A kind and dignified, exquisite and wonderful golden statue of Buddhas is lifelike. There are still many famous poems left by the literati in the past dynasties for the Tour team to enjoy. There is also the Chumi cave handed down for thousands of years. There is still a small hole on the stone wall. It is said that many years ago, white rice flowed out of this hole. The outflow is just enough for the monks and nuns in the temple, and there is no surplus. Later, a layman found out that he had an evil intention. One night, he secretly widened the small hole and imagined that the rice would flow out continuously. But after the hole was widened, the rice would never flow out again. After seeing the stories and legends of the temple, the famous poems and the beautiful scenery of the past dynasties, the visitors are amazed.

Since the resumption of Buddhist activities in eling temple in 1987 with the approval of the county Party committee and the county government, abbot Shijing has carried out legal activities to promote Buddhism. Since then, believers and tourists from all over the world have come to visit and respect incense, which is a tourist attraction.

Eling temple is divided into two levels. The first big Buddha is Maitreya (big belly monk). He sits in peace with his chest bare. He is always smiling and carefree. He seems to say to everyone that I hope all living beings can put down their troubles and laugh. Visitors go up a few more steps to the palace of the king of Tibetans. Further up is the main hall. Guanyin Bodhisattva is sitting in the middle of the hall. She is merciful, saving all living beings. Her noble character is deeply respected and respected by the world. There are two famous generals, shutuo and Guanyu, sitting on both sides of the hall are eighteen Arhats with different postures and faces. The eighteen Arhats were accompanied by green dragons and white tigers. On the top is the New Jade Buddha Hall dedicated to Sakyamuni and master Guanyin. There are three statues of Dharma, Huineng and master Linji in the Dragon Cave. Eling temple is one of the eight ancient scenic spots in Lipu.
