Lotus mount Guanyin Temple
LianZuo mountain is located in the south of Zhongzheng Park, Daxi Town, Taoyuan County, Taiwan. It is an independent hilltop. Although it is only tens of meters high, it is named LianZuo mountain because of its beautiful peak and the shape of a lotus floating on the water. In 1797, the local gentry raised money to build a Buddhist temple in the mountains to worship Guanyin Bodhisattva and the golden statue of the eighteen Arhats. The local people used to call it Guanyin Pavilion. It is now a third-class historic site. Although it has been renovated many times since its establishment, it still maintains the style and scale of more than 200 years ago and has become a precious cultural asset.
Along the "hundred step ladder" in front of the temple, you can climb up the slope and reach the temple hall. You can see the beautiful landscape of the Dahan River and Shimen Reservoir. It's open to your mind. The old banyan stands in the square in front of the temple, adding a more secluded and ancient flavor. Although the temple is small in scale, its wing rooms, main hall and pavilions are beautiful in lines and exquisite in materials. Whether it is immortal hanging tube, carved stone window, century old jiaozhishao, stone lion and plaque inside the temple, they are exquisite, simple and thought-provoking. The pavilion in front of the hall is of Xieshan style with double eaves. The proportion is well proportioned and the shape is straight. There is a caisson in the temple. The structure is quite ingenious.
On the right side of the temple, there is a Kuixing tower praying for a prosperous literary style, which is dedicated to Kuixing of the Big Dipper. In order to protect the God of Wenyun, the Kuixing tower has the function of respecting and cherishing the word Pavilion. Therefore, it has both the structure of a paper furnace and the cornice tiles of the temple, and is decorated with auspicious animal tiles and reliefs. There is also a small pavilion beside the Kui tower, which worships the God of fortune and the God of trees. It seems that the small temple is simple and unadorned. It is said that Guanyin Temple existed before it was built and has a long history.
