Daxiong Temple
Daxiong temple is located at the back of Jiuzhou village, about 3 kilometers south of Jiangchuan County, Yuxi City. The temple sits south to north, covering an area of about 1058 square meters. It is a Chinese civil structure. There are three buildings in the front hall, and the base of the hall is higher than that of the main hall (the back hall). There is a courtyard between the front and back halls. There are two bluestone flower stands and one ancient cypress of Yuan Dynasty. There are four wing rooms and three back halls on each side. There is a plaque in the middle, with the words "Da Xiong Bao Dian" written on it. There are 18 pillars in the main hall. Except for two in the middle of the cloister, the rest of the pillars go into the wall and are supported by the upper beam. The architectural features are similar to the "well dry type" and "through bucket type" buildings of the Yuan Dynasty, which are rare in the county.
history
The temple was built in the Yuan Dynasty, built in 1692, and rebuilt in 1789. It is the earliest existing ancient building in Jiangchuan County. There are still 8 stone tablets in the temple.
In May 1989, the people's Government of Jiangchuan County announced Daxiong temple as a county-level cultural relics protection unit.
