Mulinzi Nature Reserve
Mulinzi nature reserve is located in Hefeng County, Enshi Prefecture, Hubei Province, with a total area of 20838hm, covering 109 ° 59 ′ 30 ″ - 110 ° 17 ′ 58 ″ E and 29 ° 55 ′ 59 ″ - 30 ° 10 ′ 47 ″ n. Among them, the core area is 7634hm, the buffer area is 5621hm, and the experimental area is 7583hm. The nature reserve was established in 1983, approved to be promoted to Provincial Nature Reserve in 1988, and officially approved to be promoted to National Nature Reserve by the State Council on January 21, 2012. The planned protection area is 25866.7hm, belonging to the "forest ecosystem type" Nature Reserve in the "natural ecosystem type". The main protected objects are the middle subtropical forest ecosystem, Davidia involucrata and other rare plant communities And national key protected wildlife resources.
Geography and climate
The reserve is located in the transition zone from high mountains in the west to low mountains and hills in the southeast of China. The terrain is generally high in the north and south, low in the middle, and the Mountain vein extends from south to north. The altitude is 1100-2095.6m, and the main peak is niuchi, the highest peak in the south of the Yangtze River in Hubei Province. It is a humid monsoon climate in the middle subtropical zone, with an annual average temperature of 15.5 ℃, absolute high temperature of 39 ℃, absolute low temperature of - 17.1 ℃, annual average precipitation of 1700 ~ 1900 mm, annual average relative humidity of 82%, and frost free period of 270 ~ 279 days. From low to high, the natural soils are mountain yellow soil, mountain yellow brown soil and mountain brown soil.
Biological resources
The warm climate and superior geological history give birth to abundant plant resources. 2797 species of vascular plants belonging to 943 genera of 206 families have been recorded, including 283 species of pteridophytes belonging to 76 genera of 35 families and 2514 species of seed plants belonging to 867 genera of 171 families. There are 30 species of wild plants under state key protection, including 6 species of Taxus chinensis, Taxus chinensis var. mairei, boleshu, Davidia involucrata, Davidia involucrata and Ginkgo biloba under first-class protection, and 24 species of Taxus chinensis, Cephalotaxus fortunei, Lianxiang, Shuiqing, palmitaria, Hongdou and xiangguoshu under second-class protection. There are 302 species of terrestrial wild vertebrates identified in this area, which belong to 4 classes, 26 orders, 75 families, 190 genera. Among them, amphibians belong to 24 families, 7 families, 10 genera, 2 orders, 10 families, 29 genera, 45 species of reptiles, birds belong to 155 species, birds belong to 98 genera, 35 families, 14 orders, and mammals belong to 78 species, 23 families, 53 genera, 8 orders There are more than 50 species, including civet, macaque, black bear, white crowned pheasant and red bellied horned pheasant. The nature reserve is the "refuge" of the relict plants after the Quaternary glacial movement. It is also the "cradle" of the growth and development of the rare wild animals in the Palaearctic and Oriental world. It has preserved many rare and endangered species of wild animals and plants with rich biodiversity. It is a typical representative type of vegetation in the southwest of Hubei Province. It is an ideal foundation for studying biodiversity, conserving germplasm resources and teaching practice land
