Qianlong Temple
Qianlong temple, located in Shaohua mountain scenic area, Weinan City, Shaanxi Province, was built in the early Eastern Han Dynasty. Because Liu Xiu took refuge there, his son Liu Zhuang (Emperor Ming of the Han Dynasty) ordered local construction to build a Buddhist temple in return for his father's kindness. It is one of the earliest Buddhist temples in China. After thousands of years, the Qing dynasty printed 96 sets of Tibetan scriptures.
The origin of temples
It is said that when Liu Xiu was chased and killed by Wang Mang, he took refuge in the temple and survived. His son Liu Zhuang (Emperor Ming of the Han Dynasty) ordered him to kill him in return for his father's survival
Xiang Wang Liang built a temple on Panlong mountain, named Qianlong temple, as a memorial.
Temple environment
Qianlong temple is located in a mountain like a giant dragon, so it is called "Panlong mountain". Qianlong temple is built on the left side of the dragon head on the top of Panlong mountain. It is surrounded by thousands of rocks and ravines, and the peaks are magnificent, which makes this ancient temple more magnificent. In addition to the beautiful environment of Qianlong temple, there is also a unique landscape in the front yard of the main hall - "Bo Bao Huai". An ancient cypress with more than three arms is full of vitality, and its branches and leaves are luxuriant. Between the trunk of the ancient cypress, an old locust grows strangely. So far, the diameter of the main stem of the old locust has more than one arm, and its branches and leaves are luxuriant. The growth of the two trees is different. The cypress is high and the locust is low. Each tree shows its own style. Most people who appreciate it are amazing.
Qianlong temple is located in a mountain like a giant dragon, surrounded by thousands of rocks and valleys, towering peaks, lush trees, a fairyland. In front of the main hall of the temple, there is a pagoda tree, which is said to have been planted in the Han Dynasty. It is more than 4 meters thick. The pagoda tree is high and the pagoda tree is low. It is full of vitality and shows its own style. On the west side of the sea of clouds Sendai, look around, misty clouds, East overlooking the Taihua mountain, the air Qianren, near the Shaohua peak, show see strange.
At the top of the mountains below the Qianlong temple, there is a giant Buddha lying on his back. His body is natural and lifelike. Whenever the sun rises, the morning sun bathes the Giant Buddha, which is like a Buddha surrounded by the light of the Buddha. He sleeps between the green mountains. Compared with the Qianlong temple in the south, it is a rare natural landscape.
Temple scenery
Qianlong temple has front hall, middle hall and main hall.
In front of the main hall, there is a thousand year old cypress. Its trunk is slightly inclined, its bust is about 3.7 meters, its height is 23 meters, and its crown is about 50 square meters. Amazingly, I don't know when, a locust tree appeared among the cypress trees, with a chest circumference of 1.53 meters, which is called "Bo Bao Huai". The two trees are luxuriant and have a long history. The cypress is strong and straight, the locust is handsome, the cypress is high and the locust is low. There are many legends, conjectures and statements about Bai baohuai. Different people have different opinions. Some literati see the scene of them embracing each other and name it "lover tree". Around the tree trunk, there are dense small holes, which are shaped like nail holes and of different depths. It is said that this was caused by soldiers' armour hanging in the past, so it is also called "guajia cypress".
The front hall is Maitreya's smiling welcome to all living beings, and the four heavenly kings' law enforcement guards. The front courtyard is exquisite and square, the middle hall is clean and quiet, with square bricks and green tiles, carved wood doors and windows, and the center is dedicated to Amitabha Buddha, Guanyin Bodhisattva and dashizhi Bodhisattva, known as Jieyin Buddha, which is the three saints of the Western Paradise. After the three saints, there is the statue of Bodhisattva Weituo, the Dharma protector with a magic wand.
The central hall is relatively spacious, with two halls of Zhai and Keer, as well as two corridors on the side of the small room of chanliao. On the front is the main hall, which is inscribed by Zhao Puchu, the former chairman of the Buddhist Association of China. The door is divided into four parts, and the carving is exquisite. On the upper lintel there is a set of ink and wash paintings of "the master seeks the way", which is a masterpiece of the Ming and Qing Dynasties. In the middle of the hall is Sakyamuni, in the East is the disaster relief and longevity medicine Buddha, in the west is Amitabha Buddha, on the lower two sides, on the left is Manjusri riding a green lion, and on the right is Puxian riding a white elephant. On one side of the hall is a statue of Guan Yunchang with red face and long beard, green robe and sharp knife. In Chinese Buddhism, it is called Kalan Bodhisattva and one of the Dharma protectors.
Although most of the Shanmen, Sansheng hall and Daxiong hall are dilapidated or renovated, they still have the style of Ming and Qing Dynasties. The three sacred statues in the middle hall and the Buddhas in the main hall were originally molded in the Ming Dynasty, but they were destroyed in the cultural revolution, leaving only the remnant seats. What we can see is that the teachers and students of Xi'an Academy of fine arts restored them on the basis of the original in 1987. Its shape, tone and charm are no less than those of those years. There is a lonely peak in the backyard, with only a few seats. It is an independent hall called Pilu hall, which is like a sky hanging. Inside the hall is the Buddha of viluzana, who shows the brightness of the sun and the moon.
Eight steles from the fourth year of Chenghua in Ming Dynasty (1468) to the fourth year of Xianfeng in Qing Dynasty are preserved in the temple, which is a historical witness of the Buddhist culture of Qianlong temple.
