The stone drum stele is a drum shaped stele carved from white marble on a hill at the corner of the Jinsha River, hence the name of the stone drum.

history

Shigu ferry has a wide river surface and mild water potential, which is suitable for ferry. It has always been a must for military strategists. It is said that during the Three Kingdoms period, Zhuge Liang pacified nanzhong and "crossed Lu River in May" (Jinsha River was called Lushui in ancient times).

In 1253 ad, Kublai Khan was here again to "cross the river".

In April 1936, led by he long, Ren Bishi and Xiao Ke, the second front army of the Chinese workers' and peasants' Red Army crossed the river from here and went north to resist Japan.

After liberation, the Red Army "Long March ferry monument" was built on the high slope behind the stone drum monument. The monument is 8.1 meters high, majestic and solemn. It is a key cultural relic protection unit in Yunnan Province. The archway in front of the monument is the Red Army Crossing River memorial hall, which displays the cultural relics of the Red Army's long march in Yunnan.
