For more than 40 years, the development of Tzu Chi's ambition has started with charity, followed by medical care, education, and finally the humanities. The four major causes are closely linked and complement each other.

Business introduction

Tzu Chi's volunteer activities include charity, medical care, education and humanities, which are collectively referred to as the "four major volunteer activities"; in addition, it invests in bone marrow donation, environmental protection, community volunteers and international disaster relief, which are promoted at the same time, which is called "one step eight footprint".

Tzu Chi's funding comes entirely from the private sector, and volunteers are also the main executors of various service programs. Therefore, the use of donations is under the best supervision and enjoys the trust and support of the public at home and abroad.

In 1985, Tzu Chi people living in other countries extended their Tzu Chi cause overseas, gathered local love resources, and promoted poverty relief and other work.

Since 1991, when Tzu Chi launched overseas rescue work to relieve the severe hurricane disaster in Bangladesh, by the end of 2007, it has assisted 65 countries across Europe, the United States, Asia, Africa and Oceania.

In the spirit of respecting life and affirming humanity, Tzu Chi's assistance is based on humanity, transcending politics, race, religion and region. Whenever there is a need in the disaster area and Tzu Chi is able to do its best, it will increase the hope of life for the people suffering from the disaster.

From the freezing weather in the northern polar circle to the unbearable heat in the tropics, Tzu Chi volunteers have made a long journey, crossing mountains and rivers, risking epidemics and wars, and holding the belief that "hard work can be done". In addition to material assistance, they have also led the victims to help each other and promote self-reliance and reconstruction in the disaster areas. I hope that when they have the ability in the future, they can also give back to the international community and form a global village full of great love.

The Buddhist Tzu Chi merit society adheres to the Buddha's idea of "no great kindness, no great compassion of the same body", and adheres to the spirit of "for Buddhism, for all living beings" of the Shunshang people.

Therefore, our ideal is to be compassionate and willing to give up, to save the suffering, to relieve the suffering with joy, and to create a fresh and clean world of Tzu Chi.

Our method is to use the wisdom of the directors to invite all the good people in the world to cultivate a good land together, and to plant wanruixinlian diligently to create a society of love.

Our work is a combination of charity, health care, education and humanities. Our spirit is sincerity, integrity, faithfulness and truthfulness. We firmly believe that all living beings are equal and that everyone has the Buddha nature. As long as we can enter through the benevolent gate, we will be able to have a glimpse of the solemn and beautiful hall of Buddhism. As long as we can enter through the good gate, the rich will be blessed and happy when they give it, and the poor will be saved and safe when they receive it.

Life is impermanent, and life passes away with each passing day. We should grasp the rare life, create good causes and get good results, so as not to have the regret of going deep into the treasure mountain and returning empty handed.

Role of committee members

Members of Tzu Chi have joined hands to stride on the path of Bodhisattva with wisdom and love.

Our committee members, because they can "take the Buddha's heart as their own heart", can see with thousands of eyes at a time; they can "take the teacher's will as their own will", so they can do things with thousands of hands at a time, hear the sound and save the suffering, and solve the difficulties immediately. What is different from the thousand hands and thousands of eyes of Guanyin Bodhisattva.

"January January is now a thousand rivers, simultaneous interpreting the thousand rivers and water month." Buddha regards the eyes of sentient beings as the "mercy" and "the rain and the flood", so how much compassion the thousand mountains compete for show, how merciful and wise, all members of my Tzu Chi committee should take the faith, mindfulness and kindness to the good way, and take the actual participation to understand the essence of life, disease, death and the bad void, and work together to create Tzu Chi's career in the future. Leave a good memory of your life and let your descendants be proud of what we have done today.

"If you want to know the cause of the past life, you will receive it in this life; if you want to know the effect of the future life, you will do it in this life. In the Bodhisattva way, we should advance bravely, let love fill our society, and let our society have a virtuous cycle. This is the Buddhist disciple of both blessing and wisdom, sincerity and mindfulness.
